In another embodiment, the suspension medium is primarily water. The slurry is formulated such that upon activation, the carbonates are oxidized to their corresponding oxides to form the emission mix oxide coating while the polyethylene glycol suspension medium is cleanly oxidized evolving substantially only CO2 and H2O vapor. A method for preparing the emission mix slurry is also provided.

摘要： The invention relates to a tubular discharge lamp (1) with a wall (4) which is transparent to UV-radiation. The tube (2) encloses a discharge space (5) having an internal diameter D. The discharge space (5) comprises a filling of mercury metal vapor in a concentration range of 0.4-2.5 mg/cm3. A reduction of both the diameter D from about 22 mm down to about 13.5 mm and the average mercury concentration from about 1.7 mg/cm3 down to about 0.8 mg/cm3 leads to an increase in the effective germicidal UV-output of the lamp (1) of about 35%.

摘要： A discharge device for operation in a gas at a prescribed pressure includes a cathode having a plurality of micro hollows therein, and an anode spaced from the cathode. Each of the micro hollows has dimensions selected to produce a micro hollow discharge at the prescribed pressure. Preferably, each of the micro hollows has a cross-sectional dimension that is on the order of the mean free path of electrons in the gas. Electrical energy is coupled to the cathode and the anode at a voltage and current for producing micro hollow discharges in each of the micro hollows in the cathode. The discharge device may include a discharge chamber for maintaining the prescribed pressure. A dielectric layer may be disposed on the cathode when the spacing between the cathode and the anode is greater than about the mean free path of electrons in the gas. Applications of the discharge device include fluorescent lamps, excimer lamps, flat fluorescent light sources, miniature gas lasers, electron sources and ion sources.

摘要： A low-pressure mercury-vapor discharge lamp comprises a discharge vessel (10) and a first and a second end portion (12a). The discharge vessel (10) encloses a discharge space provided with a filling of mercury and a rare gas in a gastight manner. Each end portion (12a) supports an electrode (20a) arranged in the discharge space. Current supply conductors (30a, 30a′) extend from the electrodes (20a) through the end portions (12a) so as to project from the discharge vessel (10). An electrode shield (22a) encompasses at least one of the electrodes (20a). According to the invention, the electrode shield (22a) is mounted on the current supply conductors (30a, 30a′). Preferably, the electrode shield is clamped to the current supply conductors. The electrode shield is preferably provided with recesses to accommodate the current supply conductors. Preferably, the current supply conductors are flattened at the location where the electrode shield is mounted on the current supply conductors. Preferably, the electrode shield (22a) is made from a ceramic material. The lamp according to the invention can be readily manufactured and exhibits a comparatively low mercury consumption.
