Airspace data associated with a flight plan is received, and the airspace data associated with a region of the flight plan is displayed. A time scale substantially coextensive with the region is also displayed. To view a future region of the airspace, the time scale on the display is moved in a first direction, and to view a previous region, the time scale on the display is moved in a second, substantially opposite direction.

The flight profile is then communicated to the unmanned aerial vehicle and to the flight plan notification system, wherein the flight plan notification system communicates the flight plan to the existing, external aircraft safety system.

One of the methods includes determining, by an electronic system in an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), an estimated fuel remaining in the UAV. An estimated fuel consumption of the UAV is determined. Estimated information associated with wind affecting the UAV is determined using information obtained from sensors included in the UAV. Estimated flights times remaining for a current path, and one or more alternative flight paths, are determined using the determined estimated fuel remaining, determined estimated fuel consumption, determined information associated wind, and information describing each flight path. In response to the electronic system determining that the estimated fuel remaining, after completion of the current flight path, would be below a first threshold, an alternative flight path is selected.

One of the methods includes maintaining, by a cloud system in wireless communication with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), allocated geofence envelopes for one or more of the UAVs, with each geofence envelope being a virtual barrier for a real-world geographic area. A request for approval of an updated geofence envelope is received from a first UAV in flight. The cloud system determines that the updated geofence envelope has not been allocated and/or the updated geofence envelope does not interfere with allocated geofence envelopes. In response to the determination, a response indicating approval of the request is generated. The generated response is provided to the first UAV.

摘要： Methods and apparatus are provided for transmitting re-routing options to a plurality of in-flight aircraft in accordance with preconfigured pilot preferences. The apparatus comprises a data store module containing data sets against which the pilot preferences are evaluated during flight, including weather, airspace and flight restrictions, ground delay programs, and air traffic information. The apparatus further includes a flight path module containing route and position information for each aircraft. An incursion alert processing module evaluates the flight path, data store, and pilot preferences and generates incursion alerts which are transmitted to each aircraft during flight. Upon receipt of an incursion alert or, alternatively, independent of an incursion alert, the pilot may request re-routing options. Once received and reviewed, the pilot selects the optimum re-routing option, and an associated micro flight plan is uplinked and loaded into the FMS (Flight Management System).
