    • An identification device modified to fit into a lug nut hole of a rim of a wheel assembly to supply information to a remote interrogator pertaining to the tire, rim, and valve stem prior to mounting the wheel assembly on the vehicle. The device includes a conical body molded of a plastic material and has a coded chip embedded in the plastic material. The chip is provided with either a passive or an active electronic circuit for relaying identifying information to a remote interrogator. A spring device is mounted on the body to removably retain the device within the lug hole until the wheel assembly is mounted on a vehicle.

    • An automotive parts kit differentiation system and method includes a plurality of different types of parts kits, wherein each type of kit includes a base and a plurality of automotive parts removably contained by the base. The parts contained in each type of kit vary as compared to each other type of kit. Each base includes a unique identifier tag that identifies the base as being a base for one of the plurality of kit types. The unique identifier tag of each base includes a color zone defined by a color selected from a plurality of different colors that correspond respectively to the plurality of different kit types so that each kit type corresponds to one of the plurality of different colors. The unique identifier tag further includes a shape identifier selected from a plurality of different shape identifiers that correspond respectively to the plurality of different kit types so that each kit type corresponds to one of the plurality of different shapes. The color zone and shape identifier can be combined, and the color zone can comprise two different zones located respectively on two different surfaces of the base. The unique identifier tag also optionally includes a machine readable portion such as a bar-code or RFID module.

    • An identification device formed from a band of material and a non-reusable tamper-resistant fastening arranged to join opposite end regions of the band. A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) transponder is disposed in the band. The transponder includes and RFID circuit, such as may be formed on an integrated circuit (IC) chip, and an antenna. In the present invention, the tamper-resistant fastening serves additional functions beyond securing the opposite end regions of the band together. Namely, the fastening can be made of a conductive material and designed to create electrical continuity between multiple conductors to enable or disable certain circuit functionality. In one variation, this continuity allows the excess tail portion of the wristband to be cut without disrupting circuit functionality. In another variation, the fastening mechanism is designed to crimp conductors together. In yet another embodiment, the RFID circuit itself is wholly or partially formed within the fastening mechanism to increase the better protect and support the circuit, as well as to make it more difficult to defeat the tamper-resistant functionality of the device.

    • A card assembly comprising a display portion and a transaction card is provided. The display portion comprises a substantially planar substrate. The transaction card comprises a substantially rectangular and substantially planar substrate having first and second short edges and first and second long edges. The transaction card further comprises at least one magnetic stripe having a card identification number encoded thereon. The at least one magnetic stripe is substantially parallel to the long edges. The transaction card is detachably coupled to the display portion at a coupling interface located along one of the short edges. The card assembly may be configured so that the transaction card can be inserted into a card-reading device while the transaction card is still attached to the display portion.
