    • A computer-based investigative analysis system is disclosed in which a user can share results of an investigation with other users in a way that allows the sharing user to visualize how the results will be shared before they are shared. The results are shared in the form of a visual graph having nodes, edges, and other presentation elements. The nodes represent data objects that are the subject of the investigation and the edges represent connections between the data objects. The graph is shared in the form of an automatically generated redacted graph omitting nodes, edges, and presentation elements for which the other users do not have permission to view. Before sharing the graph, the sharing user is presented with a visualization of the automatically generated redacted graph providing the user an opportunity to confirm that sharing the redacted graph will not constitute an unauthorized information leakage.

    • A method selects events from an event log for presentation along a timeline. The method may receive information associated with the timeline to define an interval of interest and a partition size, and divide the timeline into a plurality of segments based on the partition size. The method may further identify each segment having at least one relevant event within the segment, where a relevant event is an event which starts within a segment and overlaps with the interval of interest. The method may determine parameters associated with at least one relevant event for each identified segment, and provide the determined parameters along with an index which designates each identified segment. The determined parameters may be provided to a client to generate the timeline of the at least one relevant event. An apparatus can implement the method to select events from an event log which are associated with a defined time interval.

    • A method, system, and computer program product for analyzing performance of a database cluster. Disclosed are techniques for analyzing performance of components of a database cluster by transforming many discrete event measurements into a time series to identify dominant signals. The method embodiment commences by sampling the database cluster to produce a set of timestamped events, then pre-processing the timestamped events by tagging at least some of the timestamped events with a semantic tag drawn from a semantic dictionary and formatting the set of timestamped events into a time series where a time series entry comprises a time indication and a plurality of values corresponding to signal state values. Further techniques are disclosed for identifying certain signals from the time series to which is applied various statistical measurement criteria in order to isolate a set of candidate signals which are then used to identify indicative causes of database cluster behavior.
