    • A developing apparatus includes sealing members which are installed on both inside walls of a housing and closely contact the housing, a developer roller, and a blade to prevent the toner contained in the housing from leaking out. Each sealing member includes a first sealing member and a second sealing member. The first sealing member has a side part that elastically and closely contacts one inside wall of the housing and a short side part of the blade, and a front part that elastically and closely contacts the outer circumference of the developer roller. The second sealing member overlaps with the first sealing member and has a front part that elastically and closely contacts an inside surface of the blade and the outer circumference of the developer roller. Therefore, deterioration of a close contact of the sealing members due to compression and deformation of the sealing members may be prevented. Accordingly, a developing apparatus is configured to prevent leakage of toner.

    • A developing apparatus is provided which prevents rise of the magnetic toner on the peripheral face of the developing sleeve not to cause scatter of the magnetic toner even when gap is caused between the developing blade and the magnetic sealing member. A magnetic plate 90 is provided which is constituted of a base part 92 having a rectanglar cross-section and a protruding part 94 protruding from the base part 92. The base part 92 is in a shape of an arc extending along the peripheral face 72a of a developing sleeve 72. The protruding part 94 is placed on the upstream side of a doctor blade 80 in the rotation direction (arrow E direction) in the middle of the base part 92 in the length direction (arc direction). The protruding part 94 protrudes nearly perpendicularly from the side face 92a which is perpendicular to the peripheral face of the developing sleeve 72. The protruding part 94 protrudes so as to cover the regions of the peripheral face 72a of the developing sleeve 72 ranging from the base part 92 to the portion facing the doctor blade 80.

    • Even with an extend use of a laser printer, toner leakage can be prevented. A side seal disposed at each end of a developing roller includes a sealing member that makes sliding contact with a surface of the developing roller and a sponge seal that supports the sealing member. The sponge seal includes a base portion and a projecting portion. The base portion has a substantially rectangular shape, to which the sealing member is affixed. The projecting portion projects from the center of the base portion toward the inside of the developing roller along its length, without being caught between a supply roller and the developing roller.

    • An article used to seal the interface between the developer roll, doctor blade and developer housing in a laser printer toner cartridge is described. The sealing member described in the present application performs static sealing between the components while the cartridge is idle and performs dynamic sealing while the toner cartridge is used for printing, keeping the sealing surfaces free from toner by actively pushing the toner back into the developer sump. The seal has a rotary seal portion which seals between the frame of the cartridge and the developer roll, and a blade seal portion which seals between the frame of the cartridge and the doctor blade. The rotary seal portion is biased toward the surface of the developer roll and incorporates, on its face adjacent to the developer roll, ridges which act to push the toner away from the edge of the developer roll in use. The blade seal portion is biased toward the doctor blade.

    • An image developing apparatus has a photosensitive body, an image-developing roller, a toner feeding roller, a housing cassette, whereon the image-developing roller and the feeding roller are mounted, for storing the toner, a plate-like blade mounted on the housing cassette, a sheet member for preventing the toner from leaking, and toner sealing devices made of a resilient material for preventing the toner from leaking. The sheet member is displaced between a development area of the developing roller and a position of the pressed contact between the developing roller and the feeding roller. The sheet member maintains a uniformly contact along a longitudinal direction of the developing roller. The toner sealing devices are either mounted integrally to, or formed integrally with the blade as one unit, and provided at both ends of the blade. A space is provided between the toner sealing devices and the housing cassette. The structure of this invention realizes prevention of the toner from leaking in the image developing apparatus, since it effectively fills a space between the blade and the developing roller. Furthermore, the structure also improves productivity and reduces working processes, since it makes adhesion of the toner sealing devices unnecessary in manufacturing the image-developing apparatus.
