    • A portable, steam generating apparatus has a steam generator unit configured with a tank having an integral handle and flange, a fluid supply inlet, a steam outlet, and a valve disposed on the steam outlet operable between an open and closed position. The steam generator unit is adapted to receive a pressure relief valve disposed on said tank so as to safely release excess pressure. A flexible conduit or hose is connected to the valve so as to control the delivery of steam by means of said flexible conduit means to clear blockages in underground sewage pipes. The steam generator unit can be heated by a heat source configured to heat fluid disposed in said tank to generate steam. A steam generating kit for clearing blockages in pipes includes the steam generating unit configured with a pressure release valve, a control valve, a flexible conduit, and a burner assembly for heating the fluid in the tank

    • In order to facilitate, and largely to automate, the installation of cable supports on a duct wall, an installation vehicle can be displaced in the duct. The vehicle has a basic body which contains a storage battery and on which are mounted wheels. At least one of the wheels is driven by an integrated wheel-hub motor. Carriers for supporting seats for the operators are provided on opposite end sides of the basic body and the individual subassemblies are controlled via a control box on the basic body. A platform, which can be raised by a hydraulic cylinder carries pivoting brackets. The pivoting brackets carry slides for percussion drills, which can be displaced into their operating position, in the direction of the duct wall, by way of a pneumatic spring and moved, counter to the force of the spring, into a rest position.

    • To insert an instrument into a flow stream of a sewer pipe from the street, the instrument is fastened to a holder, which in turn is fastened to a portion of an expansion ring opposite its two opened edges. A cord is fastened to one of the edges of the expansion ring and passes over a curved post mounted to the other edge of the expansion ring and extended upwardly in a direction parallel to the edges of the expansion ring so that it can be pulled to compress the expansion ring to a small diameter cylinder and released to expand it against the wall of a pipe. A post is mounted to the expansion ring to permit a long tool to grip the post and move the expansion ring into a sewer pipe where it is expanded and released.

    • A plugging device for closing an opening defined by an end of a pipe with sealant comprises a cap, an extension, an inner seal, a guide, and at least one stop. The cap has an inner surface which defines a chamber adapted for retaining the sealant. The chamber is dimensioned slightly larger than the end so as to receive the end. The chamber and end define a gap therebetween. The extension has a distal end and is attached to the inner surface opposite the distal end. The inner seal is attached to the extension and sized larger than the opening. The guide is positioned forward of the inner seal and attached to the distal end. The guide is also dimensioned to be inserted into the opening. The stop is attached to the extender, and when the stop is disposed in the pipe, the stop is movable with respect to the conduit in one direction and also prevents misalignment of the cap with the pipe. A handle can also be included to allow the cap to be positioned robotically.
