摘要： A quick connect member (36, 136, 236) for connecting a tube (12) in a female socket having a radially extending shoulder in a groove (28). The quick disconnect member (36, 136, 236) comprises an annular support portion (40, 140, 240) for retained on the tube (12) to slide therealong and a pair of cantilevered spring arms (42, 142, 242) extending axially from the support portion (40, 140, 240). An abutment (38, 138, 238) is disposed at the distal end of each arm (42, 142, 242) and is biased radially outwardly and into a locked position in overlapping engagement with the shoulder of the groove (28) to mechanically prevent removal of a projection (18) on the tube (12) from the socket (14). In the first embodiment, the quick connect member (36) is defined by a coil of wire coiled about the tube (12) to define the support portion (40) with the wire extending axially from the coil to define the arms (42) and then extends transversely into the arms (42) to define circular abutments (38). In the second embodiment, the quick connect member (136) is defined by sheet metal in a U-shape having a support portion (140) with an opening (148) therein for receiving the tube (12) therethrough. The third embodiment includes a tab (250) extending from each of the abutments (238) to the exterior of the socket for moving the abutments radially inwardly to clear the shoulder (28) for insertion and removal from the socket and each of the tabs (250) includes an undulation (252) biased into engagement with the shoulder (28) to urge the projection (18) axially into the socket.

摘要： A cap and shield assembly for a fluid conduit coupler has a shield and a cap hingedly connected to the shield with a shaft having a cross-pin extending therethrough. A cam bushing in the bore of the shield has a cam surface which coacts with the cross-pin to provide a positive closed position for the cap relative to the shield. Preferably, the cam bushing also provides a positive open position. The cap and shield assembly is particularly advantageous for couplers having a dry-break interface because the cap is readily moved between open and closed positions and operators will be more inclined to use the cap after fluid transfer. Shrouds on the cap and the shield coact to protect the coupler interface when the cap is in the closed position thereby protecting the dry-break interface from contamination by road and environmental debris. This is particularly advantageous compared to the dust cap of the prior art which tends not to be used for its intended purpose of protecting the fluid conduit coupler.

摘要： A lockable cover and seal for a threaded nozzle or spout, such as a hose bib cock assembly having a passageway, an end face, an external threaded portion adjacent the end face, and anti-siphon valve in the passageway including a portion protruding outward of the end face, generally includes, in combination, a lid, a seal, a swivel arm, and a shielding cap. The lid is bell-shaped and has a central axis, an inner end including a threaded portion for threaded engagement with the threaded portion of the spout, a central cavity and an annular shoulder facing inwardly for juxtaposition to the spout end face. The seal includes an inner side for sealing against the end face of the spout and an outer side for sealing against said annular shoulder and a forward extending central recess for receiving any protruding portion of the anti-siphon valve. The swivel arm includes an inner end rotatingly attached to the outer end of the lid such that the swivel arm is rotatable about the central axis and an outer end including an eye for attaching a lock. A bell-shaped cap fits over the lid and includes an outer end wall having a central orifice therethrough for receiving the swivel arm. The cap extends forward to enclose the lid attached to the spout such that the lid is inaccessible for turning and the cap is freely rotatable about the central axis and incapable of engaging and rotating said lid.

The hose of a manual or automatic air pump is threaded on the valve stem to pump air from the air pump into the faucet and through the water pipes connected to the faucet to clear the pipes of water and prevent the pipes from freezing and bursting in freezing weather.
