摘要： In a glow plug controller, a glow plug 10 fixed to an engine 30 comprises a heater 4 and a ceramic substrate 2 having an exposed portion 2d which is exposed to the interior of a combustion chamber 32. A glow plug control apparatus 100 causes ECU 105 to control the energization of the heater 4 of the glow plug 10 to keep the surface temperature Ts of the exposed portion 2d to not lower than 500null C. Further, ionic current Ii is measured using the glow plug 10. Switches 102 and 103 switch from the energization of the glow plug to the detection of ionic current or vice versa in response to a command signal from ECU 105.

摘要： An ion processing system for collecting and processing combustion information to improve engine efficiency and decrease engine emissions. The ion processing system generally includes a processing unit which is adapted to receive signals from engine sensors such as the crank sensor, injector sensor, and cam sensor. An ion sensor is provided to detect all phases of combustion and generate an ion current signal to be received by the processing unit. Signal conditioners are provided for each individual signal source (crank sensor, injector sensor, cam sensor, ion sensor) to amplify and filter the signals for optimal detection and analysis by the processing unit. The processing unit may monitor crank positioning, cam positioning, and injector timing across all stages of operation of an engine in real-time. This information may be processed and communicated to an engine control unit to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, or to a computing device for diagnostics.

A coupling member (180) is joined with the housing (130) and is also joined with the heater unit (150) at its edge portion (188), so as to enable the heater unit (150) to move along an axis line O and couple the heater unit (150) with the housing (130). When the edge portion 188 of the coupling member 180 is irradiated with a laser, at least part of the edge portion (188) melted by laser welding fills a gap (50) between the coupling member (180) and the heater unit (150) to form a welded part (210). As a result, even when there is a gap prior to welding, the weld strength between the coupling member (180) and the heater unit (150) can be maintained.

Subsequently, the gradient dn and the hysteresis zero angle H0 are updated (step S18). When the diesel engine is determined to be in a non-motoring state, data (θn, Pn) of an actual in-cylinder pressure is corrected based on a newest correction coefficient η and hysteresis zero angle H0 (step S22).
