    • A ladder system is disclosed which allows for stabilizing a ladder on multiple surfaces without the need for a second person or a great deal of setup time. The collapsible ladder system includes a larger ladder section and a smaller ladder strut section which are pivotally connected at a point which is at or below the midpoint of the larger ladder section. The larger ladder section and smaller ladder strut section are connected by a rigid adjustable linkage, or spreader, at a point that is below the pivotable connection. The ladder further includes a means for stability on a variety of surfaces. At the ground contact point, the point where the ladder side rail ends and the ground meet, there are adjustable gripping feet, which can be independently or in combination vertically or angularly adjusted for maximum stability.

The first assembly includes a plurality of rungs coupled with the rails and may exhibit a vertical spacing of a first distance between adjacent rungs, a vertical spacing equal to the first distance between the lowermost rung and a supporting surface (e.g., the ground), and a vertical spacing between the uppermost rung and the top cap that is greater than the first distance. In one particular embodiment, the vertical spacing between the uppermost rung and the top cap is twice the distance of the first distance.

    • An extension ladder stabilizer includes a ladder rung engagement rod having threads along at least a portion of its length and configured to be disposed in and project from each end of a hollow tubular rung of an extension ladder, a pair of internal supports having a substantially gear shaped hole in each, a pair of external supports having a substantially gear shaped boss with a through hole on a first face and an anchor channel on a second face opposite the first face on each, and a pair of ground engagement members. In a ladder stabilizing configuration, the extension ladder stabilizer is installed on a ladder and the ground engagement members are passed through the anchor channels and into the ground to secure the ladder from side slipping, kicking back, and kicking over when in use.

    • A ground anchor positively anchors an outdoor implement in place to the ground. The ground anchor comprises an arm defining opposed first and second ends of the arm. The first end is pivotably and directly connected to the implement such that the arm is pivotable with respect to the implement. A spike defines opposed first and second ends of the spike and is arcuate such that the spike is operatively concave with respect to the arm. The first end of the spike is pivotably connected to the second end of the arm such that the spike is rotatable about the second end of the arm. The second end of the spike is adapted to be manually imbedded into the ground at a right or an acute angle with respect to the arm to, thereby, positively anchor the implement in place to the ground with pretension.

    • A ladder stabilizing attachment for a ladder is disclosed. The device is basically made of two or more long variable length stabilizing legs FIGS. (1) and (11) attached to the upper part of a ladder by universal joints FIGS. (9) and (9A), and capable of forming a triangular or multi-angular pyramid with the ladder. The legs can be independently positioned to give greater lateral stability, as well reducing slide out tendency of the ladder base. The foot sockets of the stabilizing legs FIG. (5) are designed to minimize overloading and movement due to ladder flexing. The device is constructed so that it can be built into new ladders, and readily adapted for and fitted to most existing ladders.

    • A device for anchoring a ladder to the ground and a method for setting up a ladder against a standing object is disclosed. The device comprises of two anchoring members, each having a brace member configured for containing and securing one of the ladder legs, adapted for engaging with the ground and adapted for pivoting from a front side to a back side of the anchoring members. In another embodiment, each of the brace members is configured for containing the bottom rung of a ladder for situations where the legs cannot be secured by the brace member. The method for setting up a ladder against a standing object such as a tree comprises of bracing the legs or the bottom rung by the brace members and anchoring the device to the ground while the ladder is laying flat on the ground, then raising the ladder toward the standing object.
