摘要： A polyolefin composition is provided which is resistant to gas fading upon exposure to atmospheric pollutants. The compositions containing a stabilizing amount of a phosphite of the formula ##STR1## wherein Y.sup.1 is an alkyl, preferably t-butyl, and Y.sup.2 is t-butyl or sec-butyl. Fibers and films made from the composition exhibit improved fade resistance compared to fibers and films made from polyolefins stabilized with various other commercially available phosphite. The compositions also contain an additive selected from hindered phenolic antioxidants and hindered amine light stabilizers.

Such a compound can be prepared by the transesterification of a diphenyl alkyl phosphonate carrying the desired alkyl group with pentaerythritol phosphate alcohol. An alternative process of preparation comprises the reaction of pentaerythritol phosphate alcohol, a trialkylamine, and an alkylphosphonic dihalide.

摘要： Melt extrusion processes involving phosphite stabilized polyolefin compositions subject to solid by-product formation during melt extrusion are improved by the addition of a metal salt of a lactic acid to the composition. The processes involving the improved compositions exhibit reduced levels of screen pack plugging during fiber and film extrusion processes than that achieved with fatty acid salts, such as calcium stearate.

The nylon molding compositions and molded parts formed thereof exhibit improved color difference, as calculated in CIELab units under illuminant "D-65" according to ASTM Standard D-2244, of less than about 1.5 when exposed to 601.6 kJ/m.sup.2 irradiation in a Xenon arc weatherometer operated according to SAE J1885, and improved surface gloss retention characteristics after such irradiation.

The polypropylene resin composition is suitable for use in making medical instruments, containers for foods or the like.
