    • A portable truck dump comprises a conveyor system mounted on an elongate frame to transport material from a first end of the frame to a second, opposite end of the frame. A grate is positioned over the conveyor system and is supported by first and second sides of the frame. A ramp extends generally perpendicular to the frame on each side of the frame next to the grate to provide a drive-over access for a material transport vehicle to deposit its load over the grate and onto the conveyor system. A first end of each ramp immediately adjacent to the frame is pivotally connected to the frame to allow the frame to be articulated towards the grate. A second end of each ramp spaced from the frame is supported above but in close proximity to the ground. A support frame is associated with each ramp to provide a barrier along the ground adjacent to and at a level of the second end of each ramp. The barrier supports an earthen ramp which enables the material transport vehicles to drive onto and over the ramp to deposit material over the grate. The support frame maintains the integrity of the earthen ramp when the ramps are articulated towards the grate. The support frame may also provide a support surface adjacent to the ground for supporting the second end of each ramp.

    • A material transport system for conveying water softener salt to a water softener brine tank located within a structure is disclosed. The material transport system includes a loading hopper having a removable lid that is secured to or adjacent a wall of the structure. Salt is fed into the upper end of the loading hopper and travels through the hopper to the lower end of the hopper where a downwardly sloping gravity feed sleeve is connected to the loading hopper. The feed sleeve is formed of a non-corrosive material and extends from the loading hopper through floors and walls of the structure to a lower level of the structure. At its lower end, the feed sleeve is connected to a storage hopper suspended in the lower level of the structure by a hanging framework attached to the underside of a floor of the structure located directly above the storage hopper. The feed sleeve is attached adjacent the upper end of the storage hopper, allowing the salt to migrate through the storage hopper to a dispensing spout connect to the lower end of the storage hopper. The dispensing spout is, in turn, connected to a feed mechanism located beneath the storage hopper. The feed mechanism includes a connecting sleeve forming the exterior of the mechanism and containing a feed system used to selectively dispense the salt from the feed mechanism through a tank sleeve connected between the feed mechanism and the water softener brine tank.

    • A belt feeder gate for use in self-unloading ships of the type in which the hold of the ship is provided with a hoppered bottom including a plurality of hoppers overlying an unloading conveyor belt moving lengthwise of the ship. Each open hopper bottom is closed by a gate comprising two wheeled gate sections which are movable relative to each other along stationary tracks in a horizontal plane and in a direction laterally of the direction of travel of the underlying unloading conveyor belt. The respective longitudinally opposite wheeled ends of the respective gate sections project in underlying relation to longitudinally spaced "hog ridges" defined by the walls of adjacent hoppers, each "hog ridge" being an inverted V-shaped hollow space defined beneath two upwardly converging oppositely longitudinally inclined walls of two longitudinally adjacent discharge hoppers. The stationary tracks on which the wheeled gates move are also in underlying relation to, although not within, the respective "hog ridges," and the hydraulic rams which impart movement to the gate sections are housed within the "hog ridges." A further feature of the construction is the V-shaped axial cross-section of the wheels on the gate sections, which V-shaped cross-section rides on an inverted V-shaped track to prevent "play" or wobble of the wheeled gate relative to the tracks, thereby providing a constant and stabilized linear relation of the wheeled gate relative to the power means such as a hydraulic ram, which imparts movement to the gate sections.
