摘要： An apparatus for continuous curing of a plurality of extruded strands can include a rigid frame structure formed by interconnecting a plurality of rigid frame members. A rigid top plate member and a rigid bottom plate member are attached to the rigid frame structure. A plurality of upper spindle units is rotatably attached to the rigid top plate member and a plurality of lower spindle units is rotatably attached to the rigid bottom plate member. A pair of drive motors is attached to the rigid frame structure. A gear assembly attached to the rigid frame structure is operably engaged to the pair of drive motors and a chamber is supported on the rigid frame structure for curing the plurality of extruded strands. The pair of drive motors drives the gear assembly to continuously pass the plurality of extruded strands through the chamber for continuous curing and post-curing.

The polymeric film may be an opaque polymeric film. A preferred cavitating agent is poly(trimethylene terephthalate). Also provided are methods for making such polymeric films.

The thermoplastic can be a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers, polypropylene copolymers, polyethylene, polyethylene copolymers, polybutylene, poly(4 methyl 1 pentene) and mixtures thereof. The nucleating agent can comprise a metal salt of a phenylphosphonic acid. The nucleating agent can comprise primary particles having a mean aspect ratio of about two or more. The composition can also comprise an acid scavenger, such as one or more metal salts of stearic acid. The composition can be used to produce thermoplastic articles using, for example, injection molding and thermoforming techniques.

摘要： UHMWPE panels of large width may be ram extruded from a slit die in a stable process, by restraining a panel which exits the die below the crystalline melt temperature against movement away from the die by a back pressure device, so as to exert a back pressure between the back pressure device and the die, the back pressure device preferably constructed of a plurality of differentially adjustable elements so as to be able to compensate for changes in processing characteristics over time. Vertically restraining UHMWPE panels as they further cool also greatly improves product characteristics.
