摘要： An electrochemical machining process for the production of integrally stiffened shell and plate structures. The process applies to such structures as isogrid, waffle, ring stiffened and stringer stiffened structures. In these structures, secondary rib stiffening patterns are generated and shaped by inducing protrustions at selectively positioned electrolyte feeder orifices in electrode tools. Fillets and blending radii between ribs and skins as well as the thickness and width variations of the skins and ribs are controlled to enhance structural performance through electrode tool shaping, and control of electrolyte flow, applied voltage, electrolyte pressure, and electrode oscillation.

摘要： An electrochemical machine of the type having a workpart shroud around the workpart except for the portion thereof to be received in an electrolyte chamber with the shroud and electrolyte chamber substantially enclosing the workpart during machining is provided with opposing clamps on an electrolyte chamber member to cammingly engage opposite lateral sides of the shroud to hold it against the electrolyte chamber member to reduce high pressure electrolyte leakage.A venting conduit system is provided from the shroud through mated engaged surfaces of the shroud and electrolyte chamber member to an electrolyte drain in the electrolyte chamber to vent gases from the shroud during machining. Flow of high pressure electrolyte through the electrolyte chamber and drain creates a suction on the shroud interior to cause venting of gases, such as hydrogen, therefrom.

摘要： The disclosure relates to a process and apparatus for the treatment of sodium-nitrate-containing electrolytes during the electrochemical machining of the surfaces of iron-containing workpieces. By adding an oxidizing agent, more particularly ozone, increased production of nitrite in the electrolyte is prevented and, thereby, premature passivation of the surface of the workpiece during the electrochemical metal removal. An apparatus for the oxidation of the electrolyte is comprised of a processing station inserted into the electrolyte circuit, an ozone generator, and a reactor.
