    • A card game and method of play combining features of blackjack and poker is disclosed. Like blackjack, the object of the card game is to obtain an aggregate card value nearest to twenty-one. However, each participating player is playing against all other players for a pot. The pot is formed from antes and bets made during the game. In one version, each player is dealt an initial card. The initial card may be dealt face down or face up. Like poker, after receiving the initial cards, the players, beginning with a player designated to act first, participate in at least one betting round. Depending on the game, players may fold, check, call, bet or raise during the betting round. After a first betting round, remaining players draw additional cards, if desired, to obtain an aggregate card value nearest to a pre-established total (e.g., twenty-one). The player nearest to the pre-established total, without going over, wins the pot. Other features include multiple betting rounds, blind bets and varied pre-established totals (e.g., thirty-one). A no-bust version is also disclosed.

    • The card playing system or network and method is particularly suitable for playing bridge and other multi-table card games in clubs and tournaments. A remote input/output device or scoring unit is provided at each of a plurality of tables. Each remote unit preferably has a transmitter and receiver for sending and receiving playing information to and from a base station, such as a base computer and/or a connection to the World Wide Web. The base station equipment also has a transmitter and receiver. Bids are input into the scoring units by operating keys or other input means, and the bids and scores are transmitted by means of the network to the base station. The base computer or website equipment computes interim standings of the players and sends that and other information to the scoring units. Transmission preferably is wireless or by means of cables.

    • The present invention provides a method of conducting a poker tournament having a plurality of players. The poker tournament includes a plurality of sessions. Within each session, seat assignments are first selected for each of the players. Seat selection is preferably random. Subsequently, a predetermined number of chips is distributed to each of the players, such that each of the players receives an equivalent number of chips. Next, a poker game is played for a predetermined amount of time. At the end of the session, i.e., the end of the predetermined amount of time, the number of chips each player has remaining is recorded as a session total. After the plurality of sessions, each of the session totals are added to determine a tournament total for each player. The winners of the tournament are determined based on the tournament totals.

The system further includes a player display and a computer associated with the player display, wherein the computer has a network communication port. When information is broadcasted by the logic module of the shoe over a network, the computer associated with the reader board responds to the broadcasted information by causing the display to display the broadcasted information.
