    • A multi-port, electrical connector (100) includes a housing (105) having cable ports (122–128) for coaxial cables (421–428) on a cable side (101) of the housing and male push-on ports (271–278) for female connectors (801) on a male side (202). Each cable port has nonstandard internal threads (160). Each coaxial cable is terminated with a cable adapter (120). A coaxial cable-cable adapter combination is removably secured to each cable port by a clamp nut (130) having nonstandard external threads (660). Each coaxial cable-cable adapter combination is individually field replaceable. Another multi-port electrical connector (1000) includes a housing (1005) having male, push-on ports (1021–1028) on a male side (1001) of the housing and printed wiring board (PWB) ports (1171–1178) on a PWB side (1102). Each PWB port includes a straight PWB pin (1181–1188) for insertion into a hole in a PWB (1301).

    • A connector is provided for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to a terminal, such as a cable terminal, a terminal for coupling to another connector, and the like The connector includes a coupler, such as a nut, having a receiving port for engaging the terminal. The coupler also includes an annular collar. The connector also includes a body member, one end of which includes a lip. The lip is inserted through the collar opening. The other end of the body section includes an inner surface portion. The connector still further includes a post, an end of which is sized for insertion between the dielectric and the outer conductor of the cable. The post further includes a post flange and a post shank. The post shank forms a post channel sufficient in diameter to receive the inner conductor and the dielectric of the cable. The post is movable between a cable-insertion position and a cable-installed position. In the cable-installed position, the post shank is received in the body member to form an annular chamber between the post shank and the inner surface portion. The annular chamber is sufficiently narrow in this cable-installed position to compress the outer conductor and the jacket with the post shank and the inner surface portion for establishing a distal seal. Tightening of the coupler to the terminal compresses the lip between the post flange and the annular collar for establishing a proximal seal. Related methods also are provided.

    • A variable impedance interface device for connecting a coaxial connector to an external component is disclosed. The interface device has a housing having a first end adapted to receive a coaxial connector and a second end having an interface where the housing is attachable to an external component, such as a printed circuit board. A cavity within the housing is defined by an inner surface and has a cavity first end and a cavity second end. The inner surface tapers between the cavity first end and the cavity second end. A mating position in the cavity has a certain dimension due to the taper of the inner surface. The mating position defines a location at which a coaxial connector received by the housing positions. An impedance of the housing is based on the mating position and may be varied due to the impedance of the interface such that signal degradation at the interface is reduced.

    • A radio frequency interference (RFI) and grounding shield for a coaxial cable connector is disclosed. The shield comprises a circular inner segment and at least one arcuately shaped pre-formed cantilevered annular beam attached to the circular inner segment by a joining segment. The at least one pre-formed cantilevered annular beam extends angularly from a plane of the circular inner segment. The at least one pre-formed cantilevered annular beam applies a spring-force to a surface of the surface of a component of the coaxial cable connector establishing an electrically conductive path between the components. The at least one pre-formed cantilevered annular beam comprises an outer surface with a knife-like edge that provides a wiping action of surface oxides on component surfaces of the coaxial cable connector and allows for unrestricted movement when the coaxial cable connector is attached to an equipment connection port of an appliance.

    • A connector having a front end for attachment to a terminal and a back end for attachment to a coaxial cable includes a body, a post mounted within the body; and a contact assembly movably mounted within the post and body. The contact assembly includes a guide, a contact mounted to the guide, and preferably a clip mounted to the contact for making electrical and mechanical connection with the center conductor of the coaxial cable and a sabot. The contact assembly moves longitudinally toward the front end of the connector, such that the front end of the contact moves from a first position completely within the body to a second position proximate the connector interface, as the connector receives the coaxial cable. Preferably, the guide has an opening for the center conductor, which is viewable to a user during attachment until the center conductor enters the opening. The sabot moves with the contact assembly in a telescoping fashion enabling a greater distance of axial displacement. In addition, the contact assembly preferably contains a means to prevent the cable from being forced backward after installation.
