    • An internal combustion engine that includes a carburetor having a choke valve and an actuator configured to move the choke valve between a closed choke position and an open choke position. A passageway is configured to direct a pressure pulse from the engine into a fuel chamber of the carburetor. The engine further includes a priming valve at least partially located within the passageway. The priming valve is configured to move between an open primer position that allows the pressure pulse to enter the fuel chamber through the passageway and a closed primer position that substantially restricts the pressure pulse from entering the fuel chamber through the passageway. The priming valve is configured to move between the open primer position and the closed primer position by the actuator when the actuator moves the choke valve between the closed choke position and the open choke position, respectively.

    • The present invention provides an internal combustion engine including an engine housing, a crankshaft rotatably supported in the engine housing, a cylinder, a piston movable within the cylinder, a combustion chamber in fluid communication with the cylinder, a fuel system configured to provide fuel to the combustion chamber, an intake passageway configured to provide a fluid to the combustion chamber, and a first regulator at least partially positioned in the intake passageway. The first regulator is selectable from a plurality of regulators. The engine also includes a coupling device configured to maintain the first regulator in the intake passageway, and a slot in the interior wall of the intake passageway that receives an end of the first regulator. The first regulator is configured to be removed and replaced by a second regulator from the plurality of regulators without disassembly of the intake passageway.

    • The invention provides a hierarchically accessible monitoring system configured to be used with a standby generator, and a method of remotely accessing generator information from a standby generator. The hierarchically accessible monitoring system includes an interface unit configured to receive information from the standby generator and to communicate the generator information, and a remote data server in communication with the interface unit. The remote data server receives the generator information from the interface unit, stores the generator information, and controls access to the generator information based upon at least two hierarchical levels, each hierarchical level having different access privileges. The hierarchically accessible monitoring system also includes a user interface configured to display the generator information from the remote data server to at least one user. The user has access privileges to read the generator information based upon the user's assigned hierarchical level.

    • An engine having an operating orientation includes an engine housing having a crankcase and a single cylinder bore, and a single piston configured to reciprocate within the single cylinder bore to generate pressure pulses in the crankcase. A breather chamber is at least partially defined by the crankcase and is disposed adjacent the single cylinder bore. The breather chamber includes a lowermost wall in the operating orientation that defines a drain aperture through which a lubricant flows into the crankcase. A breather cover is coupled to the crankcase and cooperates with the crankcase to fully define the breather chamber. The breather cover includes a bottom in the operating orientation and a wall extending substantially vertically from the bottom in the operating orientation to at least partially define a cover space. The breather cover defines an air-lubricant mixture aperture configured to allow for the passage of the air-lubricant mixture into the cover space. The wall defines a cover space drain aperture spaced a first non-zero distance above the bottom to facilitate the discharge of lubricant from the cover space to the breather chamber. The cover space drain aperture is spaced a second non-zero distance above the drain aperture when the engine is in the operating orientation.

    • An oil pickup tube includes a substantially straight portion, and a top and bottom portion interconnected with the straight portion. Each portion includes a cavity in fluid flow communication with the cavities of the other portions. Each cavity includes a substantially linear longitudinal axis. The cavities also include draft angles to allow the respective portions to be manufactured by injection molding, casting, or another suitable method. The top portion includes at least one recess adapted to receive a sealing member that creates a press-fit seal when the top portion is inserted into an oil gallery of an engine. Top and bottom flanges interconnected with the oil pickup tube facilitate securing the tube to the engine. A method for manufacturing the oil pickup tube includes the steps of defining the outer surface of the tube with a die, inserting two cores corresponding to the respective cavities of the top, straight, and bottom portions into the die, and delivering molten material into the die. After the material has at least partially cooled and solidified, the oil pickup tube is removed from the die.

    • The priming system for a dual feed internal combustion engine provides a lighter, starting fuel to the venturi, the fuel nozzle, or to the carburetor bowl for engine starting. In a first embodiment, the starting or secondary fuel is mixed with the primary fuel in the fuel bowl, and the pure secondary fuel is provided to the fuel nozzle by actuation of a manually-operable primer. In a second embodiment, the secondary fuel is mixed with the primary fuel in the carburetor fuel bowl, and a shot of pure secondary fuel is provided directly to the carburetor venturi by the actuation of a manually-operable primer. In a third embodiment, a primer is manually operated before engine starting to remove primary fuel from the carburetor bowl and return it to the primary fuel tank. Thereafter, pure secondary fuel is provided directly to the carburetor bowl for engine starting through a changeover valve. After the engine has started, the changeover valve is positioned to permit primary fuel to be gravity fed to the carburetor bowl.
