摘要： A receiver processes an NMR signal to produce a baseband image information signal from which two quadrature component signals are derived. An intermediate frequency section mixes the received NMR signal with two reference signals to shift the image information into a frequency band having a bandwidth BW and centered at a frequency that is 1.5 times the bandwidth BW. The resultant signal is filtered to remove extraneous signals outside the image information band. An analog to digital converter samples the filtered signal at a rate that is twice the bandwidth BW and digitizes the samples into a digital signal. A quadrature detector derives I and Q output signals from the digital signal by alternately selecting digital samples and negating every other sample selected for each of the I and Q output signals. The quadature detector also digitally filters the I and Q signals which are then used to construct an NMR image.

摘要： Method and apparatus for minimizing scatter in an X-ray imaging system of the type including a controllable source of X-ray radiation and means for collimating the X-ray radiation into a fan-shaped beam and effecting scanning of the X-ray beam across a target area. The improved system includes a grid assembly extending in a transverse direction across the target area and having a relatively narrow width in the beam scanning direction. A drive is coupled to the grid removing the grid in synchronism with the X-ray beam and an X-ray impervious belt is coupled to the grid and extends in a transverse direction across the target area and is movable with the grid for covering the target area outside the grid to prevent scatter radiation from impinging on X-ray film located beneath the grid. In one form, the grid includes a plurality of air interspersed septa to allow reduced beam energy. In another form, the X-ray beam is collimated into a point source by the use of an X-ray impervious disk positioned adjacent to and overlaying an X-ray window in the X-ray source.

An analog filter is used in the sampling system for band limiting the detector signal below the highest frequency of interest, but is a practically realizable filter and is therefore non-ideal. A digital filter is applied to the detector data after digitization to compensate for the characteristics of the analog filter, and to provide an overall filter characteristic more nearly like the ideal.

摘要： A method and apparatus for compensating CT images for truncated projections created when an object extends beyond the field of view during the course of collecting a set of projections. Projections which have reference channel information influenced by the object are identified, and the reference channel information thereof replaced by more accurate information derived from unaffected projections. The zero and first order moments of the projection set are analyzed to better estimate the expected moments had the truncated projections not been truncated, and to use that information in completing the truncated projections. A closed form solution is used for convolution of the extensions of the truncated projections to avoid substantial delays in processing the final CT image.

摘要： X-ray energy-difference images are obtained simultaneously by exposing a body to a broad energy spectrum X-ray beam while a radiographic film package is disposed between front and rear X-ray intensifying screens. The film package has two superimposed films with a light-opaque sheet between them. The front screen, on which the polyenergetic image beam emerging from the body is incident, is excited to luminescence by X-ray photons predominantly in one energy band and the rear screen is excited predominantly by photons in another band. The light opaque sheet preferably contains X-ray filter material for additional filtering of photons to increase the fraction of photons at said other band to which the rear screen is sensitive. A shadowgraph of a marker is formed on the film emulsions during X-ray exposure to aid in matching congruent picture elements on each film when the developed films are being read out to obtain signals corresponding to their intensities. Notches in the edges of the films and sheet serve as a code for indicating the type of screens with which the package can be used.

摘要： X-ray pulses at two different photon energy levels are produced with an x-ray tube that has an adjustable resistor element in a circuit that connects the anode and filament of the tube to a high voltage supply. Two bias voltage supplies are connected in additive fashion between a control grid element of the tube and its filament to enable control of voltage drop and current through the tube. Switch means are provided to selectively shunt either or both bias voltage supplies in a repeatable order to thereby alter the bias voltage on the control grid and enable producing x-ray pulses having energies corresponding with the voltage drop and current through the tube at a selected bias voltage in accordance with the load line on the anode characteristic curve plot of the tube as determined by the value of the adjustable resistor element.

摘要： The present invention provides a radiotherapy treatment apparatus that includes a treatment beam, a magnetic field disposed parallel collinear to the treatment beam, and a target that is disposed along the treatment beam. The treatment beam can be a charged particle beam, a proton beam, an electron beam, or a linear accelerator (Linac) beam. The magnetic field is from a magnetic resonance imager (MRI), a megavolt x-ray imager, or a kilovolt x-ray imager and is disposed to operate in coordination with operation of the treatment beam and to narrow the beam. The tumor is disposed to rotate with respect to the treatment beam and the magnetic field, or the treatment beam and the magnetic field are disposed to rotate up to 360° with respect to the target when mounted to a ring gantry. The apparatus can include a rotation angle dependent shim disposed to account for Earth's magnetic field.

A rotor comprises a rotor shaft with an axis along a length of the rotor shaft and a plurality of coils on the rotor shaft. An active timer applies a voltage to the plurality of coils with alternating polarity. Contacts provide an electrical connection between the active timer and the plurality of coils.
