    • A method and system for performing financial transactions. The method includes receiving by a mobile device, credit/debit card data belonging to a user of the mobile device. The credit/debit card data is registered with a financial transaction server and the user is authenticated. A USSD message comprising details associated with the user and a financial transaction is transmitted to a USSD server and a financial transaction server. In response, a random code representing the user and the credit/debit card data is received by the mobile device and a barcode is generated based on the random code. The bar code is presented to a merchant barcode scanner. The barcode is scanned, decoded, and transmitted to the financial transaction server. The decoded barcode is compared to the random code to perform a verification process associated with the financial transaction, the user, and credit/debit card data.

    • A system and method for data service management of electronic files. A user selects the file or files to be stored on a remote storage device. The user is also able to selectively scan to archive, or storage, a document or other data. The user then selects the appropriate payment option. The user is presented with the total cost of the service, and upon acceptance, the selected service is performed. The details of the transaction are archived and the user is billed for the service. The fees charged are based on the number of pages of the document, file, or other data stored. The fees are charged at the commencement of the services, rather than each day. The fees are also based on the location form which the services are accessed based on selected criteria of such location. Renewal of the storage duration includes fees are those fees charged when the document, file, or other data was first stored.

    • The subject application is directed to rendering a remotely submitted document processing job using secondary job processing parameters specified at the rendering device. Electronic document data, associated identification data, and initial instruction data is received via a remote client interface. Location data of a selected rendering device is received via the remote interface, and the received job data is stored in a data storage associated with the device. The device's local interface receives login data, which is tested against the identification data. A display is selectively generated of the instruction and document data based on the testing output. Modified instruction data is received via the local interface relative to the initial instruction data. The costs for rendering the document data via the device are then calculated and displayed on the local interface. Following receipt of approval data via the local interface, a rendering operation is commenced on the document data.

    • A method of determining the visibility of a target in a background uses search time as the output. A set of images of the target in the background is made, and selected input variables in each image are measured. The input variables relate to target size, target juxtaposition relative to the viewer's location, luminance of the target and luminance of the background scene. One version of our method additionally uses wavelet edge points as an input variable. Each input variable, as well as the output variable, has several applicable membership functions by which membership values are assigned to the variables. Choosing membership functions for variables is done by fuzzy rules. Applying the fuzzy rules and membership functions produces multiple values for the output variable. These values are defuzzified to obtain a crisp end result. This result can disqualify proposed target designs or to help select among several good designs of the target.

    • A method to determine the probability of detection, P(t), of targets within infrared-imaged, pixelated scenes includes dividing the scenes into tar blocks and background blocks. A plurality of .DELTA.T metrics are applied to the blocked scenes to derive various .DELTA.T values for each scene. Factor analysis is then used on the various .DELTA.T values to derive a relative .DELTA.T for each scene. The scenes are divided again, into cells of pixels, in accordance with a plurality of clutter metrics. These clutter metrics are used to derive various clutter values for each scene. Factor analysis is used on the various clutter values to derive relative clutter values for each scene. The relative .DELTA.T values and the relative clutter values are used in determining the probabilities of detection of the targets in the scenes. Based on the probabilities of detection, the optimum scene or set of scenes is selected.
