摘要： The present invention provides a method of designing a high fatigue strength in high tensile strength steel, comprising: obtaining values of tensile strength &sgr;B (unit thereof is MPa) and Vickers hardness Hv of the steel; measuring a flaw area of an inclusion, when a fracture origin is located only at a surface of the steel; and estimating, in designing the high fatigue strength steel, that a fatigue limit &sgr;w (unit thereof is MPa) of the steel satisfies either &sgr;w≧0.5 &sgr;B or &sgr;w≧1.6 Hv, when a square root of the flaw area, (area)½ (unit thereof is m), contained in the steel is no larger than 45.8/&sgr;B2 or 4.47/Hv2. According to the present invention, a method of evaluating high fatigue strength in high tensile strength steel, in which method a relationship between a flaw dimension (area) of ODA and the fatigue strength is considered, and a high fatigue strength material can be provided.

摘要： A storage medium stores image data, audio data and processing programs having different reproduction modes, such as recording systems or data format are stored as stream data. When a specific data is to be read out from the stream data, a mode discrimination data is separated from the data to generate mode information indicative of the recording system of the data and the algorithm for reproduction of the data on the basis of the separated mode discrimination data. Based on the mode information, switching of mode is performed to reproduce image data or audio data of one of the reproduction modes among the data recorded with a plurality of mutually distinct reproduction modes, by the processing program. If the processing program is common for reproduction of other data recorded on the storage medium, such processing program is previously stored for use in common for accelerating taking up of the reproduction processing apparatus.

摘要： An improved method is proposed for the preparation of a composite carbonate powder of lanthanum, cerium and terbium as a base material of a green-emitting phosphor for which the carbonate powder is desired to have a uniform particle size distribution and a particle configuration as close to spherical as possible. The improved method is characterized by two-step heat treatment of the carbonate slurry formed by the addition of, for example, ammonium hydrogen carbonate to a mixed aqueous solution of lanthanum, cerium and terbium nitrates each under specified conditions while the pH of the aqueous slurry is adjusted to 5.0 to 7.5 after the first step heat treatment but before the second step heat treatment.

摘要： The invention is directed to an active matrix-type liquid crystal display using a horizontal MIM device as a non-linear resistance device. The layers of the metal-insulator-metal elements are formed in a horizontal direction and use a hard carbon film as the insulator layer of the horizontal MIM device. The hard carbon film comprises carbon and hydrogen and a constituent element such as a group III element, group IV element, group V element, alkali metal element, alkaline earth metal element, nitrogen atoms, oxygen atoms, chalcogen atoms or halogen atoms, and has typical specific resistivities of from 10.sup.4 to 10.sup.13 ohm.cm. The claimed devices are economical to produce and substantially free from short circuits caused by pinholes or voids in the insulator layer. In a preferred embodiment, the electrodes of the MIM device are inter-digital in shape.
