    • The first aspect of the present invention is a cylinder head containing a water jacket in which a passage for EGR gas is disposed, and the EGR gas passage has a hollow pipe that is disposed in the hollow pipe and through which the EGR gas passes and an end member that is formed with an insert hole into which the end of the hollow pipe is inserted and fixed. The end member has a bottom that is provided with the insert hole, a side wall that is formed continuously to the bottom, and a wedge portion that is projected outward from the outer peripheral of the side wall and includes a inclined surface facing the wall of the cylinder head and inclined to the flow direction of the EGR gas. The EGR gas passage is fixed to the cylinder head by holding the wedge portion of the end member between a fastening member for fastening the EGR gas passage to the cylinder head and the wall of the cylinder head.

    • An electromagnetically driven valve includes a valve element, a main body, a disc, and a lower electromagnet. The valve element includes a valve stem, and is reciprocated in the direction in which the valve stem extends. The main body is provided at a position distant from the valve element. The disc includes a driving end that is moved in conjunction with the valve stem, and a pivoting end that is supported by the main body such that the pivoting end can be oscillated. The disc is oscillated around a central axis that extends at the pivoting end. The lower electromagnet is disposed so as to face the disc. The lower electromagnet includes a core made of magnetic material, and a coil wound in the core. The central axis is surrounded by a cylindrical bearing portion of the disc, which is made of magnetic material. The core has a cylindrical surface that faces the bearing portion.

    • An electromagnetically driven valve includes a driven valve having a stem and carrying out reciprocating motion along a direction in which the stem extends, a disc support base having an abutment surface, a disc extending from one end coupled to the stem toward the other end supported by the disc support base so as to allow free oscillation of the disc, and an electromagnet applying electromagnetic force to the disc. The disc has a root portion formed at the other end, and an arm portion formed from the root portion to one end. The electromagnet has a surface facing the arm portion. When the disc is attracted to the electromagnet the abutment surface abuts on the root portion and a gap is created between the surface and the arm portion. With such a structure, excellent quietness and durability can be achieved and energy loss can be reduced.
