    • Markers for providing reference points or lines are recorded together with radiation images on stimulable phosphor sheets in a position fixed with respect to the radiation images. The stimulable phosphor sheets are scanned with stimulating rays, and the spatial coordinates of reference points or lines are detected from digital data of the images detected from light emitted from the stimulable phosphor sheets. Rotation and shift among the radiation images are calculated based on the reference points or lines. One of the radiation images is rotated on the digital data when positional deviation exists and moved on the digital data when positional deviation exists. Subtraction of the image data is then conducted among the corresponding picture elements of the radiation images to extract an image of a specific portion of the radiation images.

    • An energy subtraction processing method and apparatus for radiation images includes irradiating radiation, which has a predetermined energy range, into an object in a recording unit, and irradiating the radiation, which has passed through the object, to a recording medium capable of recording a plurality of radiation images during its exposure to radiation with different energy distributions. A plurality of radiation images of the object are thereby recorded on the recording medium. From the recording medium on which the radiation images have been recorded, a plurality of image signals are obtained by a read-out unit. The image signals represent the radiation images of the object. A modulation transfer function (MTF) correcting process is carried out on the image signals in an operation unit such that differences between MTF's of the radiation images of the object may be eliminated. Subtracting operations are then carried out in the operation unit on image signals, which are obtained from the MTF correcting process.

    • A radiation image of an object is formed with radiation, which has passed through the object. The frequency processing is thus carried out such that an artifact occurring at peripheral regions in a reproduced visible image may become imperceptible.

    • An image processing apparatus processes diagnostic image data bearing thereon an image through which a disease is to be diagnosed so that a visible image having a quality optimal to diagnose the disease can be obtained. The image processing apparatus includes an image processing condition storage section and an image processing section. Names of various diseases and image processing conditions for the respective diseases are stored in the image processing condition storage section. The diagnostic image data is input into the image processing section. The name of a disease which is to be diagnosed is input into the image processing condition storage section, and the image processing condition corresponding to the disease is input into the image processing section from the image processing condition storage section. The image processing section carries out image processing on the image data according to the image processing condition input thereinto and generates a processed image data. The processed image data is sent to an image reproducing system where a visible image is reproduced on the basis of the processed image data.
