    • An exhaust gas recirculation control system for an internal combustion engine comprises an exhaust gas recirculation control valve for controlling a recirculation rate for exhaust gas to be mixed with intake air which is supplied to the internal combustion engine, an oxygen sensor disposed in an intake air passage downstream of the control valve to detect the concentration of oxygen in the intake air, a control means which compares the oxygen concentration detected by the oxygen sensor with a desired oxygen concentration previously determined depending on operational conditions of the engine and controls the degree of opening of the exhaust gas recirculation control valve so as to cancel the deviation between the detected oxygen concentration and the desired oxygen concentration, a detecting means for detecting the exhaust gas recirculation rate being zero to supply a signal to the control means on the basis of the detection, and a correcting means for correcting the corresponding relation between the output of the oxygen sensor and the detected oxygen concentration on the basis of the output of the oxygen sensor when the exhaust gas recirculation rate is zero.

    • This invention provides a high sensitivity photosensitive element used for a silver salt diffusion transfer process and capable of producing an image having fine graininess and good quality. The photosensitive element comprises a photosensitive emulsion layer containing silver halide grains having small grain size (S layer) and another photosensitive emulsion layer containing silver halide grains having large grain size (L layer), the S layer being positioned toward the exposure side of the L layer, and the amount of silver halide contained in the S layer, the amount thereof contained in the L layer and the total amount thereof being 60-5 wt %, 40-95 wt %, and no less than 80 wt %, respectively, relative to the total amount of silver halide contained in the photosensitive element.

    • Provided is an internal combustion engine for improving fuel-economy performance in any of the case where supercharging performed by an electric supercharger is required and the case where the supercharging is not required. The internal combustion engine includes: an electric supercharger; a supercharger; an electric motor; and a controller, the electric supercharger being for compressing an intake air by rotation of the supercharger caused with rotation of the exhaust turbine by an exhaust gas energy to perform supercharging and for rotationally driving the supercharger with electric-motor assistance by the electric motor; an exhaust bypass passage provided to bypass the exhaust turbine; and an opening and closing the exhaust bypass passage unit. In the internal combustion engine, the opening and closing the exhaust bypass passage unit opens the exhaust bypass passage until the supercharging is started by the electric supercharger.

    • The “squeal” that occurs when an electric field is applied to a multilayer ceramic capacitor mounted on a substrate is suppressed by providing in an active part contributing to formation of capacitances between internal electrodes facing each other in a capacitor body, low-activity regions positioned near respective end edges of respective external electrodes. A facing area of the internal electrodes in the low-activity regions is less than or equal to one fifth that of the internal electrodes in a normal region having the same volume as that of the low-activity regions. This makes it possible to suppress occurrence of electric-field-induced distortion near the external electrodes bonded to a substrate and reduce the force that causes the substrate to bend.
