    • A friction clutch assembly with a clutch release bearing for use with automotive vehicles. The friction clutch is provided with a disc-shaped spring release member having a central bore. The clutch release bearing is formed as a conventional anti-friction bearing having an outer race ring extending through the central bore of the release spring. One end of the outer race ring is formed with an annular flange extending substantially radially outward to contact the exterior frontal face of the spring release member. An angularly-shaped retaining ring is fixed to the portion of the outer race ring extending through the bore and is formed with an axially extending shank wall terminating in a peripheral edge which presses against the opposite interior frontal face of the spring release member.

    • A friction clutch integrated with a clutch release bearing for use with automotive vehicles. The friction clutch is provided with a disc shape spring release member in which a plurality of radial slots are formed creating a corresponding number of radially extending spring-like arms. The clutch release bearing is formed as an anti-friction bearing wherein one of its race members has an annular shoulder extending substantially axially away from the rolling bodies located therebetween. The shoulder is provided with several tabs, or tangs, uniformly distributed about its free end and which extend through the slots between adjacent pairs of the spring release arms.

    • In a spring biased tension arrangement for transmission belts, a friction element is installed coaxial with respect to the pivot bearing. The friction element provides a turning direction dependent damping of the pivot arm. It may be disc or sleeve shaped and is inserted in an annular space to contact a limit surface with rubbing contact. Tongues or spoke elements, inclined to the turning direction, have inclinations dependent more or less elastically upon the turning direction and act for example to change the overall height or thickness of the friction element and therewith an increase of the friction force. The tongues or spoke elements can be connected with a separate spring or formed as a unit with the friction element.

    • In a worm gear comprised of a nut and a threaded spindle, the groove bottoms of the threads are provided with a central support projection, and a radially deeper region is provided adjacent the projection on both sides thereof. When radial forces act in the same direction at both ends of the worm gear, the projection serves as a radial support projection with sufficient axial play. By providing convexly curved thread flank surfaces, for example on the nut, the threads run under the same conditions also when the axes of the nut and spindle are inclinded to one another as a result of the application thereto of inclined forces. As a consequence, axial play is reduced. Clamping of the threads is avoided in this case, however, since the support projection hinders a wedging action between the threads of the worm gear.
