    • An electromagnetic contactor has a contact device including a pair of fixed contacts disposed maintaining a predetermined distance and a movable contact disposed to be capable of contacting to and separating from the pair of fixed contacts. The pair of fixed contacts each includes a support conductor portion supported by an upper plate of a contact housing case, and a contact conductor portion connected to an end portion of the support conductor portion. The contact conductor portion includes a contact plate portion formed with a contact portion, and a connecting plate portion formed on an outer end portion of the contact plate portion and extending to the upper plate side. The movable contact is mounted onto a connecting shaft connected to a drive portion through a contact spring on an end portion on the upper plate side, and disposed to face the contact portion of the pair of fixed contacts.

    • An electromagnetic switch has a contact device having a pair of fixed contacts fixed inside an arc extinguishing chamber housing and a movable contact disposed to contact with and separate from the fixed contacts; and an electromagnetic device having a movable plunger moving between an opened position wherein the movable contact separates from the fixed contacts and a closed position wherein the movable contact contacts with the fixed contacts and pressed down. The arc extinguishing chamber housing is provided with permanent magnets to extinguish an arc generated at an opening time when the movable contact separates from the fixed contacts from a state in the closed position wherein the movable contact is contacting with the fixed contacts. In a state wherein the movable plunger is in the opened position, a magnetic circuit is formed starting from the permanent magnets and returning to the permanent magnets through the movable plunger.

    • The present invention provides a contact mechanism that is capable of, without enlarging the entire configuration thereof, preventing the generation of an electromagnetic repulsion that opens a movable contact upon application of a current, and also provides an electromagnetic contactor that uses this contact mechanism. A contact mechanism (CM) has a fixed contact (2) and a movable contact (3) that are inserted in a current-carrying path. In the contact mechanism (CM), at least either the fixed contact (2) or the movable contact (3) is formed into an L-shape or a U-shape so as to generate a Lorentz force that acts against an electromagnetic repulsion in an opening direction, which is generated between the fixed contact (2) and the movable contact (3) upon application of a current.

    • The present invention provides a contact device capable of narrowing a gap between a fixed contactor and a movable contactor and reducing the number of parts and the production costs, and an electromagnetic switch that uses the contact device.
