摘要： An image output apparatus supplies output image data including color components of color materials to an image forming apparatus that prints an image represented by input image data using chromatic color material and/or achromatic color material. In a monochrome mode in which an amount of the chromatic color material is larger than an amount of the chromatic color material used in a neutral tone, the image output apparatus includes a gradation correction unit configured to correct gradation levels of the image data which includes the color components of the color materials and which has been converted using the color separation unit. The gradation correction unit processes the chromatic color material so that a value of the output image data corresponding to an intermediate value of intermediate image data obtained through the conversion using the color separation unit is equal to or smaller than a half of a maximum value of the output image data.

摘要： Disclosed is an LCD display utilizing a frame memory and a lookup table for pixel overdrive. A plurality of pixels is arranged in an array corresponding to the gate lines and the source lines. The frame memory is a memory formed by at least one storage capacitor and at least one thin film transistor in each pixel. Moreover, a compression unit and a decompression unit are coupled with the frame memory. The compression unit outputs compressed gradation data of the present image. The decompression unit outputs decompressed gradation data of the former image.

Depressions of a projection/depression forming member (46) is relatively spread in the right-and-left direction of a display surface. The depressions of the member (46) are provided in such a manner that their average diameter in the right-and-left direction of the display surface is larger than that in the up-and-down direction of the display surface and their average pitch in the right-and-left direction of the display surface is greater than that in the up-and-down direction of the display surface. When a light enters into a surface of a reflective film (48), the light is reflected in the up-and-down direction more selectively. Therefore, with an observation of the display surface from a predetermined direction, a utilization efficiency of the incident light can be enhanced, so that display performance of the display device such as a brightness and a contrast can be improved.
