    • The present invention provides: a water-absorbing composition such that portions containing the water-absorbing composition in a high concentration exhibit excessive-liquid permeation buffering effects in absorbent articles comprising the water-absorbing composition and hydrophilic fibers; and a use of this water-absorbing composition. The water-absorbing composition comprises a water-absorbent resin and an excessive-liquid permeation buffer, wherein the water-absorbent resin is a product by a process including the step of further crosslinking the surface vicinity of a crosslinked polymer, and this water-absorbing composition is characterized by having a liquid permeation buffering index of not less than 0.4 and exhibiting an absorption capacity of not less than 25 g/g in absorbent structures under load, and further having an average particle diameter in the range of 200˜600 &mgr;m, wherein the ratio of particles having particle diameters smaller than 106 &mgr;m in the water-absorbing composition is not more than 5 weight %. This water-absorbing composition is, for example, used for the absorbent articles comprising the water-absorbing composition and the hydrophilic fibers.

    • A method for the continuous production of a shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin is disclosed. This invention accomplishes the continuous production by continuously supplying in the form of a layer a monomer mixture capable of forming an absorbent resin by polymerization and polymerizing the layer of the monomer mixture. This method is characterized by retaining the rate of change of the thickness in the direction of width of the layer of hydrogel of absorbent resin at the time of formation of gel at a level of not more than 20%. The method is advantageously carried out by the use of an apparatus for the production of a shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin which comprises a movable endless revolving support belt, a monomer mixture supplying device, and a device for discharging the shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin, the apparatus preferably being provided near each of the opposite lateral parts of the movable endless revolving support belt with a lateral weir adapted to move in concert with the belt or being provided near each of the opposite lateral parts of the movable endless revolving support belt with a lateral weir fixed in such a manner as to contact the belt in a sliding state. The method of this invention permits production of a shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin intended to afford an absorbent resin which exhibits high absorption capacity, little water-soluble content and little residual monomer only in small amounts, and enjoys a high productivity rate.

    • In a developing device comprising a developing member for transferring toner onto an electrostatic latent image for visualization, and a developer supplying member for magnetically attracting two-component developer on the peripheral surface for conveyance, and supplying two-component developer or toner to the developing member, the developer will be sufficiently agitated on the developer supplying member, and toner density and amount of toner charge in the two-component developer will be controlled with simple structure. A part of two-component developer, to which toner has been supplied on the developer supplying member, is caused to flow back on the upstream side in the conveying direction within a range in which the attracting force of magnetic poles of the internal member which the developer supplying member has acts. The internal member is caused to be rotationally moved, and a fluctuating magnetic field is formed between the internal member and the magnet arranged to face to it to thereby cause the reflux. Also, a rotating member which mechanically causes the reflux may be provided. Further, it may be possible to rotationally move the magnetic poles of the developer supplying member and to form an alternating electric field between the developer supplying member and an electrode opposite thereto for thereby causing the reflux.
