    • An improved electrophoretic development method comprising providing a liquid developer system having a backing electrode and a developer electrode, wherein the development electrode comprises a plurality of individually biased electrodes. According to this improved method, as an electrostatically imaged insulating member is contacted with the liquid developer and directed through a development zone defined by said electrodes, the leading edge of said insulating member selectively activates the individually biased development electrodes in synchronization with the travel of the insulating member through said zone, and the trailing edge of said insulating member selectively inactivates the individually biased development electrodes upon the withdrawal of the insulating member from said zone. This method is especially suitable for preparation of reversal images by electrophoretic development.

    • A driving operation support device for a vehicle is provided herein. One exemplary driving operation support device includes a road sensor for acquiring information regarding a section of road ahead of a vehicle over which the vehicle is traveling. The driving operation support device may also include a controller for determining whether the section of road is passable for the vehicle based on the information acquired by the road sensor. The driving operation support device may further include a display provided between the section of road and a driver of the vehicle. The controller may display a guidance element on the display at a position overlapped with the section of the road as seen from the perspective of the driver, such that the guidance element indicates whether the road is passable based on the determination of the controller.

    • A teletext data separation apparatus has a slice level generating circuit including a slice timing control circuit, a control register, an adder and a divider. The slice timing control circuit generates a timing signal for sampling. The control register carries out ON/OFF control of the slice timing control circuit. The control register sets by its register value the number of the sampling points of the adder and divider. By varying the register value in response to the reception state, the number of the sampling points can be increased from the specified 16 points, for example. This makes it possible for teletext data separation apparatus to generate an appropriate slice level that enables the teletext data to be separated reliably even in conditions where noise or distortion occurs in the video signal because of the effect of a weak electric field or ghost.

    • Copying of digital data from a digital recording medium is controlled so as to prevent unauthorized copying. The digital data is transmitted from a transmitter-side apparatus to a receiver-side apparatus through interfaces thereof in a system of a plurality of digital apparatuses connected to each other through a bus and mutually authenticated. The interfaces permit transmission and receiving of the digital data only between the authenticated apparatuses. Copy control information indicating a copy restriction level is added to main data of the digital data recorded on the digital recording medium such that the main data contains a first portion containing at least one of picture information and voice information, and a second portion containing the copy control information. Electronic watermark information is added to the second portion of the main data. An error correction code is added to the main data, and then intentional error information having a particular pattern is added to the digital data. The reproducing and recording operations of the transmitter-side apparatus and the receiver-side apparatus are restricted with respect to the digital data in the digital recording medium, depending upon whether the digital recording medium is authorized one or not, which is determined based on the copy control information, the electronic watermark, and the error information.
