摘要： A method is disclosed for tuning parameter values in a recording channel of a data storage device. The parameter values are tuned using a genetic process based on the principles of simulated evolution. An initial population of individuals is generated wherein each individual includes a value for each of a plurality of channel parameters. Fitness values are then calculated for each of the individuals. Individuals are then chosen for mating from the initial population based on the calculated fitness values. The chosen individuals are manipulated using genetic operators to produce a new population of parameter strings. Fitness values are then calculated for the new population and the cycle is repeated. The process is continued until a desired fitness is achieved or a predetermined number of generations have been produced. After the process has ended, an individual is chosen based on fitness values and the channel parameters of the data storage system are set accordingly.

The invention provides vaccines comprising such vesicles. Preferably non-ionic surfactants are glycerol esters particularly 1-monopalmitoyl glycerol. The vesicles may be administered by injection or via the mucosal route, oral administration being preferred.

摘要： A pet watering device for use in a vehicle that has a basin with sidewalls, a bottom and a porous member mounted over the bottom, forming an upper and a lower chamber. The porous member permits the passage of water from the upper to the lower chamber but preferably does not permit the reverse flow of water there through. Water is pumped from the lower to the upper chamber, the amount being substantially equal to the water passing through the porous member and sufficient to maintain the presence of a thin, constant layer of water over the porous member. The device is securely mounted in the vehicle. When the watering device is jostled by the moving vehicle water does not pass from the lower to the upper chamber through the porous member and only a small amount, if any, of water slops out over the upper rim of the basin.
