    • A connector having a plate-like insulator (11) formed with spaces each extending between a first surface (11a) and a second surface (11b) confronting each other in a first direction (A1), and contacts (12) each unitarily formed and mounted in the corresponding space. The insulator has a wall portion (13) that divides each of the spaces into a first space (14) and a second space (15) in a second direction (A2). Each contact has a retained portion (16) that is retained in the first space utilizing the wall portion, and a spring portion (17) extending from the retained portion, passing on the side of the first surface to bypass the wall portion and entering the second space. The spring portion has a protruding portion (27) approaching to confront the wall portion, and a contact portion (28) protruding from the second surface to the exterior of the insulator.

    • A card connector which permits insertion of a card from a side of an insulator thereof is provided. A protruded portion is formed on the bottom of a rear end of a slider movably accommodated with a hollow insulator. When the slider is moved in the direction of insertion of a card (miniature card) to bring a recessed terminal array portion of the card to a position exactly above a protruded terminal array portion of a circuit board, the protruded portion is caused to drop into a recess formed in a bottom wall of the hollow insulator to thereby incline the slider with respect to the direction of insertion of the card to fit the recessed terminal array portion of the miniature card on the protruded terminal array portion of the circuit board. The slider is urged against the bottom wall of the hollow insulator by a spring, and urged toward an insertion opening of the hollow insulator by another spring. An ejector button is arranged in the hollow insulator for returning the card to a level position.

    • An optoelectrical connector is composed of a plug to which a wire and an optical fiber are assembled and a receptacle to which the plug is inserted and connected. A receptacle includes insulation sleeves and conductive contacts in openings of receptacle housings, and plugs include a ferrule assembled bodies which are composed of an insulation ferrule which holds an optical fiber and a conductive cylindrical member which holds the ferrule and to which a wire is assembled, in an opening of the plug housing. When the plugs are inserted into the receptacle, the contacts and the cylindrical member contact with each other and the ferrules are inserted into the sleeves. Parts which serve electrical connection are not exposed.

    • An adapter system has a standard adapter for intercoupling two first type connectors, and an interface converter for attachment to the standard adapter. Each first type connector has a first connection end formed with two engaged portions. The standard adapter has two first openings and two engaging portions within the first openings engaging the two engaged portions so that the standard adapter retains the first connection end when the first type connector is inserted in the first opening. The interface converter is attached inside the first opening to convert the first opening to a second opening having a second interface for a second connection end of a second type connector different in shape from the first connection end and has two receptacles for receiving the engaging portions.

    • A connector to be connected to a cable 60 having a core wire 61 and a shielding wire 63 includes a contact 10 having a terminal portion 11 to be connected to the core wire, an outer conductor 30 having a shield connecting portion 31 to be connected to the shielding wire, and a housing holding the contact and the outer conductor.
