    • The present invention has an object to provide a surface-treated steel sheet which has highly balanced corrosion resistance and formability, and satisfies fundamental properties required mainly for steel sheets for automobile body, and a manufacturing method thereof. The surface-treated steel sheet of the invention is excellent in corrosion resistance and formability, comprising an amorphous inorganic film containing at least 5% magnesium and having a weight within a range of from 0.1 to 2.0 g/m2, formed on the surface of a zinc or zinc alloy plated steel sheet; wherein the inorganic film is soluble in an acidic solution and hardly soluble in a neutral or alkaline solution, and a manufacturing method thereof is provided. A zinc phosphate film may be provided between the galvanized steel sheet and the amorphous inorganic film. The inorganic film should preferably comprise one or more selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, phosphates, biphosphates, various condensed phosphoric acids, various condensed phosphates, organic phosphoric acid, and organic phosphates.

    • A process for electret treatment is described, involving(1) placing the dielectric article between a combination of a first ion-repulsive electrode and a first ion-attractive electrode and between a combination of a second ion-repulsive electrode and a second ion-attractive electrode, under a specified arrangement;(2) supplying a first positive ion and a first negative ion from a first ion generating means between the dielectric article and the first ion-repulsive electrode, the first ion generating means being selected from an alternating current surface discharge element and an alternating current corona-type ion generating element;(3) applying a direct current voltage between the first ion-repulsive electrode and the first ion-attractive electrode to produce a first potential difference therebetween, whereby only one of the first positive and negative ions is moved in a specified direction, and is transferred on the dielectric article;(4) supplying a second positive ion and a second negative ion from a second ion generating means between the dielectric article and a second ion-repulsive electrode, the second ion generating means being selected from specified elements; and(5) applying a direct current voltage between the second ion-repulsive electrode and the second ion-attractive electrode to produce a second potential difference therebetween, whereby only the second ion having polarity opposite to polarity of the first ion transferred on the dielectric article is moved in a specified direction, and is transferred on the dielectric article.

    • An anticorrosive system for preventing marine-using engines comprises an anti-electrolytic corrosive device, including a low potential metal member through which an engine coolant can pass, the device being arranged in the vicinity of a coolant intake port of an engine cooling unit; an electrically connecting unit for connecting between the anti-electrolytic corrosive device and several portions of the engine to generate an anticorrosive current owing to the potential between the low potential metal member and the engine metal, whereby preventing the engine from suffering with electrolytic corrosion and depositing the resolved low potential metal onto the inner surface of the coolant pipe of the engine cooling unit.
