For radio frequency (RF) calibration, a first station (STA) sends a calibration request to a second STA, and the second STA sends a sounding packet to the first STA. The first STA receives the sounding packet, performs at least one channel measurement and performs calibration based on the channel measurement. For channel state feedback, the first STA sends a channel state feedback request to the second STA. The second STA sends a sounding packet to the first STA. The first STA receives the sounding packet and performs at least one channel measurement with the sounding packet. The first STA then calculates a steering matrix for transmit beamforming based on the channel measurement.

摘要： A method and system for supporting voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services over a wireless communication network are disclosed. Data is encoded at a coding rate specified by a controller for generating a VoIP packet. Among the encoded data, bits sensitive to errors and bits not sensitive to errors are identified and error protection is performed separately by a medium access control layer and/or physical layer. A header of the VoIP packet may be selectively compressed in accordance with an indication from the controller. A user datagram protocol (UDP)-Lite may be used for partial coverage of the sensitive bits. A comfort noise may be generated by a receiving end during a silence period without receiving a comfort noise packet from a transmitting end. If the VoIP packet is not fit into a currently assigned radio resource, the VoIP packet may be fragmented.

The multi-band APs broadcast frequency band information regarding multiple frequency bands on which the multi-band AP is configured to operate. The multi-band WTRU selects a particular multi-band AP to associate with and a frequency band to use to communicate with the selected multi-band AP based on the frequency band information. If the multi-band WTRU receives frequency band information from the selected multi-band AP which indicates that a characteristic, (e.g., throughput, path loss, load, capacity, backhaul), of the selected frequency band is unacceptable, the multi-band WTRU determines whether to disassociate with the selected multi-band AP or to continue to associate with the selected multi-band AP via a different frequency band.

If the HARQ procedure did not successfully transmit the packet, then the packet is retransmitted via a retransmission management (RM) procedure. 摘要： Each of a plurality of packets in a particular flow is classified into one of a plurality of quality of service (QoS) classes based on information about each packet. Each packet is then adaptively processed based on the QoS class for each packet. The classification may be performed based on media information included in a session description protocol (SDP) messaging. The classification may also be performed based on a real-time transmit protocol (RTP) payload, an RTP header, a transmission control protocol (TCP) header, a user datagram protocol (UDP) header, and an Internet protocol (IP) header. The packets may be transmitted using multiple system architecture evolution (SAE) radio bearers each of which is used to deliver differentiated QoS requirements. The packets may be mapped to eigen-modes based on the QoS class of each packet such that a packet requiring a higher level of QoS is mapped to a stronger eigen-mode.

摘要： An access point operates in an 802.11 wireless communication network communicating with a client station, and includes a smart antenna for generating directional antenna beams and an omni-directional antenna beam. An antenna steering algorithm scans the directional antenna beams and the omni-directional antenna beam for receiving signals from the client station. The signals received via each scanned antenna beam are measured, and one of the antenna beams is selected based upon the measuring for communicating with the client station. The selected antenna beam is preferably a directional antenna beam. Once the directional antenna beam has been selected, there are several usage rules for exchanging data with the client station. The usage rules are directed to an active state of the access point, which includes a data transmission mode and a data reception mode.

摘要： The present invention is related to a method and system for sending and reducing uplink feedback signaling by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) related to transmission of multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) data over a high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) channel. A Node B may pre-allocate a time/frequency region or a common channelization code for the feedback. A triggering criterion for reporting a channel quality indicator (CQI) is set and WTRUs send a CQI to a Node B only if the triggering criterion is satisfied. The triggering criterion may be a current operating CQI value at the Node B, or based on erroneous transport block reception statistics, or a predetermined time period. A feedback reduction method related to ACK/NACK includes the WTRU sending an indication of an average number of transmissions needed to successfully decode the data instead of sending an ACK/NACK for every transmission interval.
