    • An apparatus for moving a battery relative to a shelf unit includes: (a) a motion generating unit presenting a first force in a first motion type at a first output locus; (b) a motion translating unit receiving the first force and translating the first force to present a second force related to the first force in a second motion type at a second output locus; (c) a battery engaging structure coupled with the second output locus for applying the second force to the battery; and (d) a substantially rigid frame supporting the motion generating unit and the motion translating unit and cooperating with the shelf unit to substantially fixedly situate the frame during the moving. The moving is effected in a generally vertical axis in response to the second force.

    • Provided are a middle ear implant transducer and a method of manufacturing a vibrating member adapted to the transducer. The middle ear implant transducer of a hearing aid includes: first and second permanent magnets arranged such that the same poles of the first and second permanent magnets face each other; first and second vibrating members attached to both edges of the respective first and second permanent magnets; a coil enclosing the first and second permanent magnets and being separated a predetermined distance from the outer surfaces of the first and second permanent magnets between the first vibrating member and the second vibrating member; and first and second covers mounted on the outer surfaces of the first and second vibrating members, wherein the first and second vibrating members comprise couplers respectively attached to the first and second permanent magnets, rims respectively attached to the edges of the first and second covers, and support films respectively connecting the couplers to the rims and being thinner than the couplers and the rims.

    • A method of identifying an individual includes impinging radiation on perilimbal structures of the eye and employing acquired image information acquired from palisades and interpalisades for comparison with stored image information to determine if an identify match has been obtained. The palisades and interpalisades are not normally visible unless the eye and/or eyelids and forebrows are placed in a certain position thereby minimizing the risk of inadvertent delivery of this information. In a preferred approach a plurality of palisades and interpalisades are monitored in terms of at least one physical characteristic such as width, length, angular orientation, shape, branching pattern, curvature and spacing with the parameters being converted to binary data sequence form. Associated apparatus is provided.
