摘要： A method for wireless communication between stations of differing protocols begins by determining whether protocols of target stations of a wireless communication are different than a protocol of a source station. The method continues by, when at least one of the target stations has a different protocol than the protocol of the source station, determining whether the wireless communication is a direct wireless communication or an indirect wireless communication. The method continues with the source station transmitting a frame to an access point, wherein the frame is formatted in accordance with the protocol of the source station, when the wireless communication is the indirect wireless communication. The method continues with the access point converting the frame into at least one alternate frame based on the protocol of the at least one of the target stations having the different protocol. The method continues with the access point transmitting the at least one alternate frame to the at least one of the target stations.

摘要： A wireless local area network (WLAN) transmitter includes a baseband processing module and a plurality of radio frequency (RF) transmitters. The baseband processing module is operably coupled to process data by scrambling the data in accordance with a pseudo random sequence to produce scrambled data. The processing of the data continues by selecting one of a plurality of encoding modes based on a mode selection signal. The processing of the data continues by encoding the scrambled data in accordance with the one of the plurality of encoding modes to produce encoded data. The processing of the data continues by determining a number of transmit streams based on the mode selection signal. The processing of the data further continues by converting the encoded data into streams of symbols in accordance with the number of transmit streams and the mode selection signal. A number of the plurality of RF transmitters are enabled based on the mode selection signal to convert a corresponding one of the streams of symbols into a corresponding RF signal such that a corresponding number of RF signals is produced.

摘要： A method and apparatus for dynamic frequency selection in a wireless communication system or network includes processing that begins when an access point determines interference on a wireless channel that is being used by the access point. When the interference exceeds an interference threshold, the access point provides a request packet to affiliated stations being serviced by the access point for channel spectrum information. The processing continues as the affiliated stations generate the channel spectrum information regarding each of the wireless channels in the wireless communication network. The processing proceeds then as the affiliated stations provide the channel spectrum information to the access point via the current wireless channel. The access point interprets the channel spectrum information to determine a desired wireless channel of the plurality of wireless channels within the wireless communication network. The access point then provides a selection packet to the affiliated stations via the current wireless channel to indicate that the access point will begin using the desired wireless channel at a particular future time.
