    • There are provided an image processing method and an image processor for detecting an object to be detected in a simple and accurate manner without detailed adjustment of illumination. Light sources provided in four directions around a camera are sequentially lighted, and a camera is driven every time the one of the light sources is lighted to generate four images of a work. Further, a normal vector of a group of pixels having the same coordinate among the generated images is calculated by use of brightness of each pixel that belongs to the group and a previously obtained illumination direction vector corresponding to each of the light sources. Moreover, the normal vector of each pixel is converted into one-dimensional information showing a relation of the vector with respect to a space coordinate system, and after generation of an image representing the calculation result, a prescribed characteristic extracting process is executed.

    • According to the claimed invention, a text editing apparatus comprises a display unit adapted to display a user interface window including a preview image of a page selected from document data, at least one type of horizontally projected images of objects contained in the respective pages in a horizontal direction, and vertically projected images of the objects in a vertical direction of the pages; a selection unit adapted to select one or a plurality of horizontally projected images or vertically projected images, and thereby selecting objects corresponding to the selected projected images; and an editing processing unit adapted to execute editing processing for the selected objects in the user interface window, wherein said editing processing unit executes the editing processing for an object which is contained in a page different from a page of the preview image while displaying the preview image.

    • An object of the invention is to provide a form processing technique relating to the outputting of a tabular-format object in a form generated by entering field data into a field, wherein the technique makes it possible to generate a form having an attractive appearance irrespective of the amount of data in the field data. To attain this object, a form processing program according to the invention has functions for determining whether a setting has been made to link and output the output position of the object to the output position of a variable-length table that will be output on a form; acquiring an offset value of the linked object if it has been determined that a setting has been made to link and output the output position of the object; and deciding and outputting the output position of the object based upon the output position of the variable-length table and the offset value. The program further includes a function for setting the form file of the form based upon an indication from the user in such a manner that the object will be linked to the table and then output, and a function for storing the setting that has been made.

    • The present invention provides an odorant suitable for use in fuel gases, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), city gas, and LP gas, or methane gas, propane gas, butane gas and hydrogen gas. Preferably, the present invention provides a novel odorant that can also be used for fuel gases for fuel cells, including hydrogen gas. The odorant for fuel gases of the present invention has a perceptual threshold of 1 ppb or less, and includes a compound that has no sulfur atoms and no nitrogen atoms in its molecules. The odorant for fuel gases of the present invention is suitable for use in fuel cells that use hydrogen gas or other gases as a fuel.
