A reflection-type liquid crystal display device includes a light guide plate having a polarizing element stuck or adhered thereto on the side facing a reflection-type liquid crystal display panel, a source of light arranged on an end surface side of the light guide plate, and the reflection-type liquid crystal display panel arranged maintaining a predetermined gap relative to the light guide plate, wherein a light-diffusing function is imparted to the surface of the reflection-type liquid crystal display panel on the side facing the light guide plate.

A number, M, of the LEDs are arranged in a longitudinal direction of the light incidence surface of the light guide plate, and are electrically connected such that there are a plurality of groups of the LEDs with each group having N LEDs mutually adjacently arranged in series. The groups are adjacently arranged in a longitudinal line, and at least one of the groups of LEDs is a separate parallel connection from an adjacent group of LEDs. The plurality of LEDs includes LEDs having a plurality of colors, and the LEDs arranged in series include LEDs having different colors.

The FPC (7) extends along a side section (1c) of a case member (1) so that the connecting terminal (7c) is away from the LED (6), and in such state, the connecting terminal (7c) is extracted to the outside from the inside of the storing space (10a).
