    • Disclosed is a ring network in which a plurality of transmitting apparatuses are connected in ring form so as to be capable of transmitting in each of upstream and downstream directions, working and protection channels are assigned to each direction and, when failure occurs in a transmission path, a transmit signal is looped back using the protection channel to effect rescue. The ring network includes an insert transmitting apparatus that incorporates a packet, which enters from a lower-order side, into a higher-order signal and transmits the signal to a transmission path, and a drop transmitting apparatus that extracts the packet from the higher-order signal and transmits the packet to another lower-order side. Monitoring is performed to determine whether communication between the insert and drop transmitting apparatus has become unrescuable owing to transmission-path failure. When communication has become unrescuable, the insert transmitting apparatus halts the transmission of the packet to the transmission path.

    • A fastener magazine of, e.g., an electric screwdriver into which connected fasteners of various girths can be loaded to improve the versatility. A fastener magazine (5) of a fastening machine has therein a press plate (9) of spring-pressing type opposed to feed pawl (8) of a fastener feed mechanism. The pressing plate (9) is disposed at a height at which the connecting belt (B) of the connected screws (S) is placed and presses the shafts of the connected screws (S) against the wall face of the feed pawl (8) side. The connecting belt (B) is placed on the top face of the pressing plate (9) and supported. The fastener passage is so broad that even thick fasteners can be loaded, and therefore screws of various girths can be held at predetermined heights. Since the connected screws (S) are pressed against the wall face of the feed pawl (8) side, the engagement between the feed pawl (8) and the connected screws (S) is stable, and resultantly the reliability of screw feed is improved.

    • A voice recognizing method apparatus in which an input voice is recognized by obtaining a similar pattern by comparing the input voice and voice standard patterns. Voice standard patterns are stored into a memory. A voice is inputted. Voice duration lengths and distances are calculated by performing matching processes between the input voice and the standard patterns. The distance is corrected in accordance with the voice duration length so that the voice duration length having the best matching result is used as a reference, or such that the distance is small as the voice duration length is long. A recognition result is determined in accordance with the corrected distance. The matching is executed by a word spotting method. The input voice to be matched and the voice standard patterns are expressed by voice characteristic parameters.
