There is provided an optical glass comprising 5 mol % to 60 mol % of a B2O3 component, and 0.2 mol % to 60 mol % of a TeO2 component, by mol % on the basis of oxides. Further, there is provided an optical glass mentioned above having optical constants with a refractive index (nd) of 1.80 to 2.20, and an Abbe number (νd) of 16 to 40. Still further, there is provided an optical glass mentioned above having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of no more than 680° C.

    • An optical glass is provided that includes a refractive index (nd) of no less than 1.75 and an Abbe number (vd) of no less than 10 as optical constants. A Bi2O3 content is no less than 10% by weight to no more than 80% by weight. The content of SiO2 is lower than the content of B2O3. The total content of SiO2+B2O3 is from no less than 1% by weight to no more than 60% by weight. The content of RO is from no less than 0.1% by weight to no more than 50% by weight.     • The present invention provides optical glasses containing Bi2O3 in which the optical glasses have at least one of the properties of being substantially free from opacification and being substantially devitrified within the glass body during reheating steps in production processes, superior chemical durability, and free from black coloring. The optical glass has a refractive index (nd) of no less than 1.75 and an Abbe number (νd) of no less than 10 as optical constants. The optical glass contains Bi2O3 in a content from no less than 10% by weight to less than 90% by weight, and has at least one of the properties of being substantially free from opacification and being substantially devitrified within the glass body under the conditions of a reheating test (a).
