    • An air supply device adapted to be mounted adjacent one edge of a hung ceiling for injecting cold air from a duct extending parallel to the ceiling surface above the hung ceiling. The device consists of a pressure box having an air distribution chamber in its bottom formed between a pair of perforated plates which operate to distribute the air vertically downward and eliminate any horizontal component generated in the duct. To avoid the fouling of the ceiling surface surrounding the distribution chamber and the room wall adjacent the edge of the ceiling by the dirty secondary room air, air flow gaps are provided on three sides of the distribution chamber to inject air streams substantially parallel to the ceiling surface radiating outwardly from the distribution chamber, the outward flow deflecting the downwardly directed air by ejection and away from the room wall. Air flow regulating means are provided in each gap and in the distribution chamber to insure mixture of the air with secondary room air so as to avoid the draughts normally experienced from cold air inlet grilles.

    • An anchoring device is disclosed for mounting in a vertical hole in a horizontally disposed building member to secure a tension member from which a length of ventilation duct is suspended. The device comprises complementary wedge-shaped elements dimensioned to be received axially in the hole, one element being fixedly mounted with its base disposed adjacent the top of the hole and the other element being movably mounted with its base disposed near the bottom of the hole. The fixed element has a series of downwardly facing transverse teeth in its outer surface engaging the side of the hole and the movable element has a smooth outer surface engaging the side of the hole, each element having smooth parallel confronting surfaces inclined with respect to the axis of the hole for frictionally engaging a portion of the tension member when the movable element is driven upwardly with respect to the fixed element. In one embodiment, the elements are solid and the tension member is a thin, flat strip or wire. In another embodiment, the elements have U-shaped transverse cross sections with parallel legs, the confronting surfaces being formed on the legs and the tension member being a thin, flat strip frictionally engaged between the legs.

    • Filtering apparatus having rotatably mounted filter drum with a cylindrical filter surface mounted within a volute casing whose inlet directs dirt-laden medium against the exterior of the filter surface and whose outlet withdraws clean medium from the interior of the drum. The suction nozzle has a suction gap directed toward the filter surface to remove foreign material therefrom. A rotatable roller is pivotally suspended to bear against the cylindrical surface in advance of the suction nozzle to follow the accumulation of foreign material on the filter surface, enlarging the suction gap when the material builds up and reducing it when the material is depleted. The nozzle is fixedly mounted adjacent the inlet of the volute casing and a plate is hinged to the casing and biased against the roller to deflect the incoming dirt-laden medium circumferentially of the drum and a similar plate is hinged to the nozzle and biased against the roller to permit movement of the roller changing the opening of the slot. Blow nozzles are also provided to blow gaseous medium between the nozzle and the cylindrical surface to assist in the loosening of the foreign material from the surface for removal by the suction nozzle.
