    • A machine operator safety system for selectively providing hydraulic power to a boom assembly of an aerial device upon attaching a lanyard. The machine operator safety system comprises a set of upper boom controls within the utility platform, a lanyard anchor housing with a lanyard anchor therein, an actuator for selectively positioning the lanyard anchor housing in either a first position or a second position, and a hydraulic valve. When the lanyard anchor housing is in the first position, which conceals the lanyard anchor, the hydraulic valve blocks the flow of hydraulic power to the set of upper boom controls. When the lanyard anchor housing is in the second position, which exposes the lanyard anchor for attachment of the lanyard, the hydraulic valve directs the flow of hydraulic power to the set of upper boom controls.

    • A restraint system for restraining a worker to a platform of an aerial device comprises a restraint liner and a platform strap. The restraint liner includes four sidewalls, a floor, a lip, an interior anchor, and an exterior anchor. The floor may be coupled to one end of the four sidewalls, while the lip may be coupled to the opposing end of the four sidewalls and may extend therefrom. The interior anchor may be positioned on an interior surface of a first sidewall and operable to couple to a liner strap coupled to a worker. The exterior anchor may be positioned on an exterior surface of the first sidewall. The platform strap may be coupled to the exterior anchor and operable to couple to the platform.

    • A mechanism for rotating an aerial platform carried on the upper end of a truck mounted aerial boom assembly. The upper boom tip carries a rotatable platform pin to which a rigid beam is secured to extend forwardly beyond the boom tip. The platform is a bucket mounted on the forward end of the beam for rotation about a vertical axis displaced well forwardly from the axis of the platform pin. A hydraulic cylinder rotates the bucket about its vertical rotational axis through a 90.degree. arc between a side hung position alongside the upper boom tip and an end hung position beyond the end of the boom tip. A spring loaded locking pin locks the bucket in the end hung position and provides a safety device that prevents the bucket from being rotated against a material handling jib that may be used in the side hung position of the bucket.
