摘要： A liquid ring vacuum pump includes a vacuum pump housing composed by two opposed end walls spaced by an annular wall defining a vacuum pump chamber; a shaft extends into the vacuum pump chamber; a rotor is mounted on the shaft and is arranged eccentrically in the chamber; the rotor includes a rotor central portion and a plurality of vacuum pump vanes extending therefrom toward the annular wall; the rotor central portion and the vanes having at least one lateral edge adjacent the end walls facing the annular wall, the lateral edges and the end walls form a clearance therebetween; and the clearance between the edges and at least one of the adjacent end walls of the vacuum pump chamber increases towards the annular wall. A combination of the liquid ring vacuum pump with a centrifugal pump for pumping multi-phase liquids such as gas and solids containing fiber suspensions of the pulp and paper industry is also provided.

摘要： A method and apparatus for pumping a liquid-fiber suspension, and specifically for pumping high consistency fiber suspensions in the pump and paper industry. The method of pumping a liquid-fiber suspension includes the moving of the suspension into a pump, separating a portion of the liquid part of the suspension from the liquid-fiber suspension during the pumping operation and directing the separated liquid to the suspension at a point somewhere between a situs in advance of the pump inlet and the pump outlet. This method is enabled by an apparatus, in which at least part of the surfaces of the pump (1) is provided with filter surfaces (6, 7, 8, 9, 10), through which the liquid separated from the suspension is returned either into the pump, directly in front of the suction opening (11) of the pump (1) or to some other suitable place in the vessel containing the suspension.

摘要： Fiber suspension, such as paper pulp flowing to the headbox of a paper machine, is acted upon by apparatus which affects the axial direction and magnitude of the speed of the fiber suspension during screening to optimize results. A rotor cooperates with a screen cylinder, the rotor having a plurality of projections arranged along its axial length. The axial length of the rotor preferably has different axially extending circumferential zones. The projections have non-axial surfaces which act on the suspension to change the axial forces. Different shapes of projections are preferably provided in the different zones so that the axial forces vary in dependence upon the distance from the inlet to the screen casing, and the discharge outlet from the screen casing.

In particular, the present invention relates to decreasing the lignin content of a fiber suspension by extracting. Lignin removal is usually carried out at a consistency of less than 3% whereby heating consumes much energy. The method of the invention allows a considerable increase in the consistency of the suspension which results in that the energy consumption is decreased to a fraction of the one required by prior art methods. A characteristic feature of the method of the invention is that dry substance and chemicals contained in the fibers are extracted at a raised pressure and temperature.

摘要： An apparatus for screening pulp comprises a vessel, a cylindrical screen within the vessel, a rotor moving in the vicinity of the screen at a predetermined speed, an inlet for the unscreened pulp, an outlet for the screened pulp in the vessel. The rotor is non-cylindrical, for instance, elliptical, triangular and, in general, is multi-cam. The rotor has a contour surface, for instance grooves formed of a first bottom plane parallel to the envelope surface, an inclined plane, an upper plane and a side plane, the side plane being essentially perpendicular to the first bottom plane, the inclined plane forming an angle between 5 degrees and 60 degrees with the first plane, the upper plane being parallel to the first plane. The contour surface of the rotor may also be achieved by attaching bars of the contoured shape to the surface of the rotor, for instance by welding.
