    • A low cost, highly efficient multiband feedhorn mount assembly for co-locating first and second feedhorns on a ground satellite receiving antenna comprises a first mounting bracket adapted to be secured to an antenna bridge for adjustably supporting the first feedhorn. A second mounting bracket carrying the second feedhorn is adjustably attached to the first mounting bracket such that the first and second feedhorns, when attached respectively to the first and second mounting brackets, may be individually oriented relative to the antenna reflector. Co-located transmissions in different frequency bands from one or more satellites may thus be received without the need for a costly hybrid multiband feedhorn. Methods for installing the assembly are disclosed.

    • A parabolic antenna includes a reflector, a feed horn positioned at a focal point of the reflector, a frame fixed on a rear side of the reflector at one end, an arm on one end of which the feed horn is fixed, a pair of hinges, a boss and a shaft. The hinges extend from the other end of the arm and spaced apart from each other, and the boss extends from the other end of the frame and is interposed between the hinges. The shaft is fitted through one hinge and into the boss and the other hinge. The parabolic antenna is further provided with at least one ball stopper having a ball and a spring. The ball stopper is inserted in a blind hole formed on an inner surface of each hinge, and the spring presses the ball against the boss so that the ball is fitted into one of the recesses, thereby holding the arm and the frame at a desired angle.

    • Disclosed is an antenna system designed to operate in two frequency rangesimultaneously, namely S-band (1660 to 1700 MHz) and X-band (8500 to 9600 MHz). The system comprises two separate antennas which are conically scanned and share a common parabolic reflector within a radome. The S-band antenna is adapted for passive angle tracking and reception of radiosonde data by means of a balun fed dipole feed system which includes an offset hemispherical reflector which is rotated by a scan motor to provide conical scanning. The X-band antenna comprises an active feed system which includes a stationary feedhorn and a tapered dielectric lens which is coupled to the S-band hemispherical reflector and is rotated therewith about an axis through the vertex of the parabolic reflector. The tapered lens tilts the constant phase front of the X-band radiation pattern thereby producing a displaced phase center near the focus of the antenna to implement its respective conical scanning operation.

    • An antenna feed for decreasing the scan modulation of the radiated signal a radar which tracks by the method known as scan-with-compensation. The antenna feed is comprised of a coaxial line fed dipole located on the axis of a circular waveguide for radiating a single on-axis unmodulated pencil-beam during transmission. The antenna feed further comprises two parallel radiators located equally distant and on opposite sides of the transmitting circular waveguide radiator and functions during reception only. Rectangular waveguides connect the two parallel radiators with the central radiator so as to give rise to orthogonal signals in the central radiator upon reception of echo signals. An ATR tube connects the dipole to the central axial waveguide during transmission and isolates it during reception. The radiating dipole is mounted so as to remain fixed while the central circular waveguide and the two parallel reception waveguides rotate during scanning.
