    • A clamping mechanism having a top and bottom orientation, comprising: (a) an inner component having a platform defining a fiber channel and a clamping member disposed over the fiber channel, the clamping component being connected to the inner component such that it moves radially independently from the rest of the inner component, the inner component defining a cavity above the clamping member to receive an actuator; (b) an outer casing containing the inner component, the outer casing defining a slot; and (c) an actuator comprising a rotating member disposed in the cavity and restrained therein from moving radially, the rotating member being configured to rotate along an axis parallel to the fiber channel, the rotating member configured to interact with the clamping member such that rotating the rotating member causes the clamping member to move toward the fiber channel such that any fiber disposed therein is clamped between the clamping component and the platform, the actuator also comprising a lever connected to the rotating member and protruding from the outer casing through the slot.
