    • The method and apparatus is used for tilting substantially rotationally symmetrical bodies, such as frustoconical bobbin bodies, from a shell surface thereof onto an end surface thereof. The body is moved in a given transport direction defining leading and trailing end surface of the body with the shell surface lying on a conveyor path. The movement continues until the body crosses a dividing palne. The dividing plane extends transversely between and defines edges of two path segments of the conveyor path. The body is stopped when the leading and trailing end surfaces are supported on different path segments. The edge of one of the path segments is subsequently selectively raised relative to the other of the path segments. The body is tilted about the riased edge onto the other of the path segments until the end surface located above the other of the path segments comes to rest on the other of the path segments. The tilted body is removed in the given transport direction.

    • A method of automatically removing takeup packages of a two-sided textile machine, in particular a winding, spinning, or twisting machine with random doff by at least one automated handling device traveling along the longitudinal sides of the machine and of depositing the removed takeup packages on a conveyor belt common to both machine sides, which is arranged in the longitudinal center of the machine and adapted for a stepwise forward movement, and which is followed by a buffer zone. The automated handling device checks at each position of a due package doff and before delivering a takeup package to the conveyor belt, whether the belt is vacant at this position or already occupied by a takeup package. In the event of an occupancy, the automated handling device supplies to the conveyor belt drive a control signal, by which the conveyor belt is stepwise advanced until a vacant space on the conveyor belt arrives at this position. As soon as the buffer zone is completely filled with takeup packages, an alarm signal is emitted to a superposed monitoring device, which triggers a clearance of the conveyor belt. The present method allows to achieve a utilization factor of more than 50% of the conveyor belt.

    • A method of conveying textile material in recipients from a machine delivering textile material to a machine receiving textile material by means of a self-propelled conveying carriage (F) whose movements are controlled by a central control unit (Z). A disadvantage of the known systems is that despite the use of a self-propelled carriage for the between-machines transfer of the cans, fully automatic operation without manual intervention is impossible--i.e., some manual intervention is required at short intervals of time. According to the invention, therefore, the carriage (F) is controlled for the return of recipients (7) from the textile material receiving machine (S1, S2) to the textile material delivering machine (K1-K3) by the central control unit (Z) on the basis of control signals delivered thereto and that a checking station (L) is provided on the path of the carriage (F) from the textile material receiving machine (S1, S2) to the textile material delivering machine (K1, K3) to monitor the content and/or condition of the recipients on the carriage and is connected to the control unit (Z).

    • A textile machine includes a plurality of tube support devices transported by a transport device to a tube transfer position for transfer of tubes between the tube support devices and a tube handling device. The tube support devices each include an upright member for individually supporting a tube in a substantially upright disposition, the upright member having a recess and an indicator device disposed within the recess. The indicator device cooperates with the transport device to indicate the presence of the upright member at an indicating position located at a predetermined location with respect to the tube transfer position. Accordingly, the transport device determines the presence of an upright member and responds accordingly to reliably position the upright member at the tube transfer position for transfer of the tube between the upright member and the tube handling device.

    • A transport and handling system for multi-position textile machines, in particular twisting machines, comprising a first track system, the path of which extends along the longitudinal sides of the machines, and which accommodates at least one automated handling device to perform servicing operations, and further comprising a second track systems, the path of which extends likewise along the longitudinal sides of the machines, and along which transport devices travel, which are adapted to be combined to trains and to receive working materials and/or working means. The paths of the two track systems extend parallel to each other over at least a portion such that the automated handling device is adapted to both engage with the transport devices and move past same. The automated handling device possesses a coupling drive means to carry the transport devices along portions of the path extending parallel to each other and to produce relative movements between the automated handling device and the transport devices both when the automated handling device is stopped and when it is moved.
