    • A sheet feeding device may include a tray, a sheet feeder, a pressurizing unit, a height detection unit, a weight detection unit, and a control unit. The tray may be raised and lowered. The sheet feeder sends out a sheet stacked on the tray. The pressurizing unit urges the tray to pressurize the sheet stacked on the tray against the sheet feeder. The control unit adjust pressure force of the pressurizing unit per change in height of sheets stacked on the tray on a basis of weight per unit height of the sheets, calculated on a basis of an initial total weight of the sheets stacked on the tray detected by the weight detection unit before a feeding operation is started and on a basis of the initial height of sheets stacked on the tray detected by the height detection unit before a sheet feeding operation is started.

    • A paper feeding cassette includes: a cassette case configured to store sheets; a sheet tray on which the sheets are stacked, the sheet tray being rotatably attached to the cassette case; a push-up member configured to push up the sheet tray and rotate the sheet tray in one direction when driving force is input and release the push-up of the sheet tray to allow rotation of the sheet tray in the other direction when the input of the driving force is interrupted; and a buffer member configured to be nipped by the cassette case and the sheet tray and elastically deformed when the sheet tray rotates in the other direction. The buffer member is located, when viewed from a stacking direction of the sheets, in an area closer to a rotation axis of the sheet tray than a distal end of the sheet tray that is most distant from the rotation axis in the sheet tray.

    • A sheet feeding apparatus has a cassette retracting mechanism which retracts a sheet supplying cassette to a mounting position when the sheet supplying cassette is to be mounted on an apparatus main body, and protrudes the sheet supplying cassette from the apparatus main body when the sheet supplying cassette is to be detached, and which, when the sheet supplying cassette is to be mounted on the apparatus main body, brings a separating member provided on the sheet supplying cassette into contact with a sheet feeding roller provided in the apparatus main body immediately after the cassette retracting mechanism has generated a maximum retracting force, and when the sheet supplying cassette is to be detached, generates a maximum pushing-out force immediately after the separating member has been spaced apart from the sheet feeding roller, to thereby protrude the sheet supplying cassette from the apparatus main body.
