    • The invention relates to an auxiliary power steering system, especially for motor vehicles having a double acting servocylinder with two working chambers and a servopiston. A hydraulic steering limitation device has a valve that coacts with the servopiston responsive to a predetermined extent of power stroke to open a flow path from the pressurized working chamber to the tank connected working chamber to promptly stop the power stroke leaving the servopiston in position for prompt reversal of steering direction under pressure power. A stationary flow channel member extends the substantial length of the servocylinder and passes through a bore in the servopiston with which it has a sliding relationship. At a predetermined end of a power stroke, bores and a passage in the channel member communicate with the working chambers of the servocylinder to equalize the pressure at tank pressure for stopping the power stroke.

    • An electro-pneumatic power steering system for an automotive vehicle having a source of pressurized air. The power steering system having a torque sensor generating a torque signal indicative of the torque applied to the vehicles mechanical steering mechanism, a controller generating a pair of mutually exclusive pulse train signals indicative of the direction and magnitude of the applied torque, a pneumatic cylinder linked to the vehicle's mechanical steering mechanism, and a pair of electrically actuated proportional valves for pressurizing one or the other end of the pneumatic cylinder in response to one or the other of the mutually exclusive pulse train signals. The proportional valves venting the opposite ends of the pneumatic cylinder to the atmosphere in the absence of either pulse train signal removing the authority of the power steering system about the zero torque level.

    • A tractor comprising driven front and rear wheels, and a front and rear lifting device. The front wheels are in sets of two wheels mounted on king pins so as to be steerable through an angle of one hundred, twenty-five degrees or more. A divided track rod is connected to the king pins for steering purposes. The track rod has two parts, each centrally pivotally connected to a centrally pivoted lever and outwardly pivoted by a lever to a corresponding king pin. The latter levers extend forward and the track rods are pivoted to the central lever at a location to the rear of a plane containing the king pins. Shafts connected to the tractor's engine for turning the forward wheels extend through the king pins. The king pins are inclined upwardly to the rear and can turn each front set of wheels transverse to the straight-ahead direction of travel sufficiently to permit removal of the then foremost wheel.

    • In the embodiment disclosed, the invention comprises a single, dual-piston cylinder, operable by hydraulic fluid, interpositioned between a pair of pivotably coupled, vehicular units. The cylinder is pivotably secured to pivot coupling elements which join the units, and each piston has its translating rod pivotably coupled to one of the units. Ports opening into the cylinder admit and discharge operating, pressured, hydraulic fluid (a) to displace the pistons apart, whereby a first crab steering is effected, (b) to move the pistons into mutual proximity, whereby a second, alternate crab steering is affected, (c) to displace the pistons in unison, in a first direction, whereby a left-hand or right-hand steering is effected, or (d) to displace the pistons in unison, in an opposite direction, whereby the opposite-handed steering is effected.
