    • A drum for an image recording apparatus for absorbing and winding a recording material for the purpose of recording the image of an exposure head thereof. The main body of the drum is structured by arranging a plurality of cylindrical members having a relatively smaller axial direction. Since the drum is formed by arranging the cylindrical members, the drum can be readily manufactured. A guide is provided on the outer surface of the drum, this guide guiding, pressing, and retaining the front portion of the recording material to the outer surface of the drum so that the absorption of the recording material is conducted assuredly. The shaft of the drum is borne by a radial ball bearing which has a sealing member so that air leakage when the absorption is conducted is prevented.

    • A method and apparatus for assuring proper park positioning of a sheet gripper device. A reference signal is generated by a master control board causing the sheet gripper to commence its movement along the belts of a sheet transport system. An index marker and encoder coupled to a servo motor generate pulses based on the rotation of the shaft of the servo motor. A registration control board coupled to the servo motor generates an index interrupt after receipt of a predetermined number of pulses from the index marker. The number of rising and falling edges of a system clock that occur between the generation of the reference signal and the index interrupt is computed by the registration control board and sent to the master control board. The master control board compares this distance value to a predetermined resynchronization value. Based on the discrepancy between the two values, the master control board recalculates a park position value which is sent to the registration control board. The park position value is the amount of time that elapses after the sheet gripper has passed a gripper home sensor. Thus, recalculation of the park position value insures accurate park positioning prior to the performance of each job.

    • An image recording apparatus for recording an image on a heat-sensitive recording material which has on both sides of a transparent support member a plurality of transparent heat-sensitive color developing layers that develop respective colors in different hues from each other. The image recording apparatus includes a reversing device for turning the heat-sensitive recording material upside down, after the transparent heat-sensitive color developing layer on one side has been heated to develop the color. Accordingly, color development for both sides of the heat-sensitive recording material can be automatically performed.An image recording method for recording an image by a recording head on a heat-sensitive recording material which has two sorts of dye layers on one side and one sort of dye layer on the other side. The image recording method comprises the steps of color-developing one of the said two sorts of dye layers on one side, irradiating light onto the color-developed dye layer to fix the developed color, turning the heat-sensitive recording material upside down, while irradiating the light onto the color-developed layer, and then color-developing the dye layer on the other side.Accordingly, a longer fixing time can be set to ensure the positive fixing.
