摘要： A machine is disclosed for wind sensing on sailboats. Wind is important for sailing, but sailboats lean away from the wind when under sail. Vertical wind angles reduce the accuracy of existing anemometers. The cup blades disclosed here do not lose rotation speed when heeling over. Since it is now easy to have a sophisticated chartplotter display on a mobile device in waterproof case even on small boats, this waterproof wind sensor is a wireless “appcessory” that can talk to smartphones, tablets, computers, e-readers and marine electronics. The circuit board is encapsulated and is itself the wind direction arrow. A fluxgate compass on the circuit board provides wind direction. The apparatus is solar-powered, so there is no wiring to install or chafe. This allows a further inventive step for raising the anemometer using the mast track without needing to climb up or lower the mast.

The method including: measuring plural samples of a relative wind direction representing a difference angle between a real wind direction and an orientation of a measurement equipment, in particular a direction orthogonal to a rotor blade plane, to obtain plural measured relative wind directions; deriving a measured relative wind direction change based on the measured relative wind directions; measuring plural samples of a performance parameter indicating a performance of the wind turbine; deriving a performance change based on the plural samples of the performance parameter; determining a correlation value between the measured relative wind direction change and the performance change; measuring further plural samples of the relative wind direction; and correcting the further measured relative wind directions based on the correlation value, to obtain corrected further measured relative wind directions.

In addition, due to a small volume, it is able to facilitate the installation of the ultrasonic wind measurement device.

摘要： A portable device for checking wind direction discharges a visible, and optionally scented, vapor (e.g., smoke) stream into the atmosphere in a well-defined reference direction. In some embodiments, the device includes a power source, a vessel having an internal plenum chamber storing a volume of air, a reservoir containing a vaporizable agent e.g., smoke producing fluid), a vaporizing element (e.g., resistance heating device) associated with the vaporizable agent, and a switch. The vessel is deformable to generate an airflow. The switch temporarily connects the power source to the vaporizing element, thereby energizing the vaporizing element to generate vapor. The airflow also carries the vapor into the atmosphere as a visible vapor stream flowing in the reference direction. The reservoir and vaporizing element may be carried in a cartridge (e.g., custom E-Cig component) removably mounted on the device.
