    • A catch member adapted to be secured to the end of a grille member for securing same to a window parallel to the inner surface thereof. The window sash presents inwardly facing surfaces which have longitudinally extending shallow grooves forming seats of the catch members. The catch members comprise a stem and a head portion integrally formed therewith. The head portion has a base from whose lower surface the stem depends, and an arcuate arm flexibly secured to the base along one edge thereof. The arcuate arm overlies the base and its major portion is spaced apart from the upper surface of the base whereby it can yield when the window grille is being fitted to or removed from the window. The arcuate arm is curved in one direction and flat in the opposite direction.

    • A window grille set of pre-fabricated tubular members of a uniform cross-section having flat top, bottom and side walls which are provided with means for their joinder in crossed relation to form a self-sustaining grille assembly in which said members serve in the manner of window sash mullions to provide it with multiple light openings. The mullion-like members are provided with interlocked cross-lapped joints at each point where they cross one another and where said members are angularly related to provide diamond-shaped "lights" the opposite ends of each contiguous pair thereof are held together in miter-jointed relation by a spring-biased clip inserted into the hollow mitered extremities of said paired members. In its assembled form the grille is designed to be installed as a unit and hermetically sealed within the space conventionally provided between the spaced panes of thermal insulated window sashes.

    • Several embodiments of window frame assemblies comprising novel window framing members for supporting a glazing product are described. In one embodiment, a window frame assembly is described comprising a conventional framing member including a novel rotatable rod means for preventing the cutting through of the framing member as by a saw. In another embodiment, a window frame assembly is described comprising a framing member for installing pre-glazed windows with or without a rotatable rod means in the framing member, said member including a separately attachable leg member for attaching the pre-glazed window to a pre-installed sub-framing member. In still other embodiments, window frame assemblies are described comprising novel mullions for joining pairs of pre-glazed windows. The mullions, as described, may optionally include means for the attachment of a partition and the aforementioned rotatable rod means.

    • Security apparatus for attachment to the interior side of conventional residential window structure and which includes a horizontal bar having a plurality of vertical bars fixedly attached thereto. The vertical bars are slidably received in respective apertures suitably provided in the sill of the window, thus the bars may be slidably moved upwardly to a security position which occludes the window and downwardly to an escape position which unobstructs the window. Lock structure is included to lock the bars in the security position and a lock trip/release device makes provisions for releasing the lock structure which causes the bars to gravitate downwardly to the escape position thus enabling occupants of the building to escape outwardly through the window in the event of fire and the like.

    • Apparatus constituting a grill for use as a gate, door, window or the like, adjustable for fitting upon a frame to cover an opening. The grill is comprised of a pair of frames, a first of which is constituted of vertical and horizontal members inclusive of an inner vertically oriented channel member within which is affixed a plurality of spaced apart ring-like sections of metal through which a locking bar can be passed, and a second of which is constituted of vertical and horizontal members inclusive of an inner vertically oriented member containing a plurality of spaced apart internally threaded openings, and the frames constituting the grill are held together by a plurality of horizontally oriented rods, an end of each of which is externally threaded for threadable engagement with said internally threaded spaced apart openings located on the inner vertical member of said second frame, and the opposite ends are provided with eyes through which they can be engaged to the channel member of said first frame by passage of said locking bar therethrough. After the grill has been properly sized to an opening it can be secured in place upon the frame by a relatively unskilled workman with ordinary household tools.
