摘要： A bird repellent apparatus having an integral base member and a plurality of prongs. The base member, by means of a plurality of tabs having holes for receiving screws or other fasteners, can be affixed to virtually any desired surface. The plurality of prongs with sharp tips presents an impossible barrier to birds that would otherwise land or perch on the surface to which the present invention is affixed. The combined base member and prongs are formed from injection molded plastic structure that also provide the tabs having holes to secure the base member to the underlying surface.

The bottom end of the rod or rod assembly is connected through a flexible sleeve, which may be of rubber, to a support. The sleeve acts as a universal joint permitting freedom of movement of the rod and magnet assembly sideways. The rod swings back and forth sideways in response to the wind and other forces thereby creating a variable magnetic field which tends to repel birds, keeping them from flying into the immediate area and/or nesting in such area.

The device comprises two identical panels made of a wire open rectangular grid fencing which said panels are hingedly attached to one another at spaced horizontal points, and wherein the wire material above the hinge points define two parallel rows of crisscrossing upwardly projecting wire prongs or spikes defining a surface which deters birds from landing or perching thereon. The hinged attachment permits the two-wire panel units to be pulled apart for installation or collapsed tightly together for compact shipping and storage applications. A method of installing multiple barrier units along a span of electric cable, telephone wire or water pipes and the like is also disclosed.

The two side-lock clamps may face the same direction or opposite directions. For embodiments with same-direction side-lock clamps, an optional bottom-lock clamp may be placed between the side-lock clamps, for exerting pressure on the bottom of the crossbar. The raptor protection unit includes a perch and/or a roost guard.
