摘要： A shearing machine is disclosed which includes a first lower blade and a second lower blade positioned at right angles with respect to each other. A ram is provided which is swingably movable upwardly and downwardly with respect to the lower blades, the ram including a first upper blade and a second upper blade positioned at right angles with respect to each other. A drive drives the ram upward and downward with respect to the lower blades and connecting rods couple the drive to the ram. An adjusting mechanism is coupled to the ram and the connecting rods for adjusting the lower limit of the stroke of the ram. Furthermore, the machine includes adjustors for adjusting the horizontal clearance between the upper and lower blades when the ram is in its lowered position.

摘要： A web 26 of packaging material on which a plurality of cigarette wrapper blanks 10 are defined in oppositely rotated and laterally displaced pairs, is fed between a reciprocatable punch 38 and a fixed support 36 having cooperating cutting edges 39 and counter edges 40, respectively, whereby the downward movement of the punch severs a pair of blanks from the web. The continued downward movement of the punch separates the two blanks of the severed pair through the cooperation of a further cutting edge 45 on the punch and a counter edge 46 on a turntable 41 disposed beneath the fixed support. The turntable is then rotated 180.degree. to successively feed the separated blanks to a suction conveyor 47.

摘要： A device is disclosed for severing both a needle portion and an end nub portion of a syringe. The device includes a receptacle for the cutoff portions and a removable cover. A horizontally movable severing means may be suspended from the undersurface of the cover. Mounted on the cover is a handle which is mechanically linked to the severing means. Actuation or movement of the handle thereby causes horizontal movement of the severing means. By resting the syringe in a shoulder portion of the cover, the needle and nub portions of the syringe extend downward through an opening and are in line with the severing means. Therefore, when the severing means is moved in a horizontal direction, it will necessarily cut off the needle and nub portions.

The leading edge of the door is specially shaped to penetrate the material in the chute and to cooperate with anvil surfaces at the end of its travel to prevent jamming of the door as it closes.

摘要： Apparatus for use with a pair of thermoplastic strips of the type illustrated in U.S. Pat. No. 3,608,117 wherein one strip is formed with studs longitudinally spaced at intervals and a second strip apertured and counterbored at the same intervals is used to bind sheets apertured at the same intervals at locations spaced inward from one marginal edge is described. A pressure bar is first manually moved to operative position and a handle compresses the strips together by exerting a controlled force on the pressure bar. The handle then initiates movement of a support for a knife consisting of a length of metallic ribbon material having spaced horizontal stretches in horizontal alignment with excess stud lengths of the first strip projecting through the second strip, the ribbon being under tension to hold such stretches taut. As the support moves toward the studs a current is passed through the ribbon, heating it so that the ribbon functions to cut off the excess stud length slightly below the second strip. The current then is terminated as the support moves upward forming heads on the stud stubs filling the counterbores in the second strip. By this time, the ribbon has cooled and functions to cool and harden the heads. Retraction of the handle returns the support to initial position and releases the pressure bar. The handle also actuates a punch for the apertures in the sheets, the punch being located at a different station in the machine from the binding mechanisms.
